NINJA 250 Riders

so i bought a bike today :p its a 2008 250 ninja with a buddy helping me he rode it to my house from the sellers place made it super easy
now what are some modifications you guys recommend the bike is stock except the previous owner said something about the rear fender? didnt really understand what he means

anyways i want to put an exhaust on it because i hate the way it sounds
i want it to sound loud and manly not like a sewing machine
what other stuff did you guys do to your bikes to make them cool and personal?

congrats on the bike, and I thought you were a troll, but you need to post up pics.

On two of your posts you have mentioned manly....riding a bike is not manly, it doesn't make you manly. Manly is what kind of person you are, the decisions you make regardless of what your peers think. Manly is a guy who provides for his family, a guy who steps up when it is necessary. Now to me, cool is an appropriate descriptor. Riding a motorcycle can be a dangerous pass time/hobby and people who partake of these adrenaline inducing activities is cool in my eyes provided it is not done recklessly.
I think somebody might have called your manliness into question. Don't get drawn into a dangerous situation in order to impress others, that is not cool. In the end, it may be you who gets hurt.
As for personalizing the bike, only you can do that to your bike. Several posters have mentioned to you to join www.Ninjette.org. That site is all about Ninja 250. Go there and look at what they've done to their bikes and get ideas.

I won't lie... I lol'd pretty hard at the post above me. :lmao:

Congrats rf. Let's see a pic?? Most likely the guy was talking about a fender eliminator. It's a very common thing to change. Mine made it a whole 3.5 mins before coming off my new bike.

congrats on your purchase

All i really have to say is whatever happened in the forum, i hope you won't apply it to the riding world. Unlike the forum where you might get flamed, making a mistake while riding is life or death. Ride smart, learn from experienced rider and i can for sure tell you that you 250 won't be your last motorcycle.
Ride safe

thanks for the tips guys i will try to post some pix this weekend
Congrats! Before you do any mods - go sit on your bike, start it up, rev it and remove this sad face from your signature. Another newbie on 2008 ninja 250r should be followed by a happy face, big effing green! Ride safe and keep the shiny side up.

Congrats Royal Flush!! Ride safe bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!11!1one

A friend who upgraded to a SS misses his ninja 250, he misses how you can keep a WOT like 90% of the time, and the 250 he says was much better in the twisties.

Also, Royal Flush, are you planning on doing the course before you ride it at all? If not, I'd suggest you get familiar with the bike before you take it out on the roads, play with the clutch and get good with the friction zone, go to a parking lot or something and set up some cones, try doing some slow maneuvers such as the figure 8, turning at slow speeds, with and without using any throttle, etc

Also, twist of the wrist 2 is a good watch, if not slightly cheesy :)

I was riding my wife's 250 quite often - lots of fun! Now I wish I kept it - awesome mileage, cheap to insure, loads of fun in the city.

1) Love it, great bike to learn on. However, I will be upgrading to a SS when I turn 25 (long time from now ;_; insurance....sigh)
2) None really, got mine with 10k on it, I put about 14k on it last year and it literally has not had 1 issue aside from the high beam going out.
3) Like you, I thought it wouldn't be able to handle the highway based on what I heard - which was a huge misconception. It goes 120 effortlessly which is what most cars on the hwy travel.
4) Yeah, if you're light I think you can top 170, most people I know that ride one top at about 165.

As already mentioned, girls can't tell the difference and they'll always want to ride lol. Plus, it looks pretty sweet when you pick your gf up from school on your bike and everyone is mirin.
You can still beat most cars off the line, if that matters to you.

Lol...I'm a girl...I didn't know the difference till I got a bike. Plus some dude in a car was asking me if it was a 650... haha! Anyways... love my 250 so far... :D

It was a conversation starter. Just breaking the ice and hoping to chat in a bar :P
