HF trailer Review/Advise.

I'm going to bump this thread back up. I started doing track days this season and thinking of getting a trailer and hitch for my 2005 honda Civic coupe.

Because of my car's limitations, I want to get the lightest trailer possible.

Is the HF Foldable utility trailer with 12" wheels still the best option available?

I have an 05 Civic Sedan SE (1.7l I believe) and the HF 4x8 foldable trailer with 12" wheels and haven't had any problem hauling my 03 600rr. There's a small stretch of uphill on my way to TMP where I have to downshift to 4th, but other than that it's smooth sailing.

Awesome, thanks!

I pull a 5x8 aluminum v nose trailer with my 08 chev cobalt with 2 bikes and loaded with gear and pulls no problem just dont go over 100ks a hour and its rated for 2000 pounds for my car and thats a the safe mark car companies suggest but probably 2500

One more question, is Buffalo still the closest place to get the HF Folding trailer? Or has there been some new local sources that popped up this year?

Still the closest. I've been waiting to get my hands on one for two months, and finally did last week.
They are back order again, so you have to keep calling. Their shipments are usually Thursday mornings.

i have a PA blue chock that I want to use with my harbor freight trailer, would it be inadvisable to leave the chock unbolted down?

bolt it down.

Yes you should bolt it down and use fair size washers behind as well as lock washers and or nylock nut.

Here's my setup new for 2013, using my Mighty Mini, " Mr. Bean goes to the track".

hey did you guys need anything other than the certificate of origin to get it plated, they're asking for a bill of sale...I lost my receipt, i'm wondering if I can just make one up

i read another thread...somehow i think i'm doing this wrong, am i not suppose to present the certificate of origin at all? Looks like people register this thing as a homebuilt trailer to avoid all the red tape and the monies. What do I need to do this?

You walk in, say you have a home built trailer.
They will ask the size, the weight and the type (like flat deck, enclosed etc.) and something like $35 later you walk out with a plate and ownership.

45$ and few simple questions later (weight for example) you have ownership and plate for home built trailer.
I just did it recently.I DID NOT SHOW ANY PAPERS AT ALL, just drivers license...

Trailer is solid and 120kmph goes just fine. Folding is not working well without removing wheel chock.
Also Bolt heads are sticking out and when folded pushing against each other.
Counter sinking would probably be good.

And finally most important, get rid of bearing grease and repack with something decent.
Apparently original is junk, even manual states that.

Ramps are 2X8 5 foot planks with 15$ ramp ends from princess auto.

Here are some pics

Did that today, worked just as you said.

Just wondering though, did not get a plate for the vin and she said nothing about it. Do I have to put the vin# that is on the ownership on the trailer or is it not an issue?

Thanks folks...had i registered it legitimately, I would've had to pay 200+ in RIV fees.

One more question, my wheels/hubs dont seem to have much freeplay, they only go through one rotation by hand spin, is this normal?

Not at all. I've been using my folding trailer for 2 years and over 20 TDs and you can free spin the wheels forever. I would re-check the bearings and install bearing buddies, available at Royal
http://www.royaldistributing.com/Catalogues/Main/2013-Fall-Winter/page286.html

I've also noticed that the grease fittings on the trailer is ******, so I replaced mine. The ones at Royal seem to fit fine.

Good luck!
