NINJA 250 Riders

Does anyone know if any stealerships still have brand new 250s? And what to expect to pay for cash price? Sold my bike, and Im thinking of buying brand new to avoid the hassles of previous owners.
If there are any left you should be able to get one for $4k + tax... you'd have to call around.

Kahuna still had a few last time I was there a few weeks ago. You're probably looking at 4500-to just under 5ish all in. Give them a call and see what they say.

I got my ninja 2012 a couple weeks ago... And I like love it so far. I bought it in march for 4k+tax brand new so I thought I got a good deal. I'm a big guy at 6 foot and 220 and you can get more accelleration out of it than like most normal cars lol. I'm just driving on roads where max is 80km/hr so going a little over on those roads is still great on the bike.

Most important money you can spend is on the course and gear.

Looked at the 300 but with the price of the 250 I could get all my gear and course and still be under the price of the 300 so I went with the 250. Prob will upgrade when I'm 25 but right now I am very happy so far with it. Never had a problem starting it cold.

ok so after making some phone calls to insurance companys it seems like i cant afford anything manly to insure so im stuck with a 250 if i want to get any riding done soon

When people make statements like "I can't afford anything manly" they're probably wise to learn on a 250. Riding is riding and if you could afford the 'manly' impress your buddies bike, you probably wouldn't be here in a week. Anyways if you want bigger perhaps look at insurance on a ninja 500? I have a friend with one and he loves it. Never a single issue since he bought it new in 2009. Little more power and size. Just a thought.

What's MANLY is to make enough money to ride whatever you want.

What's REALLY MANLY is not caring how manly other people think you are.

(Not saying I measure up on either count, but hey, I ride a motorcycle, so I'm cool, right?)

250 is a sickass bike, who said it ain't manly?!

Great post!

Though for me with my small penis syndrome is the main reason I jumped to a 600SS this season. The chicks will be so much more impressed.

Dude - no offense. You sound incredibly young and immature. I think it would do you harm to get a 600. It sounds like you're into biking for the wrong reasons to impress people and be "cool". Usually people that feel like that aren't very "cool" people to begin with and who are trying to break into the cool scene by getting a bike. I can tell you right now that it is not a good way to go about it and is potentially hazardous to your health.

Ride a bike for yourself and don't worry about getting attention - leave the attention getting for 15 year old girls in high school.

Bikes don't impress girls - the kind of girls that get impressed by bike you don't want to be near. You know what impresses girls more than bikes? Money. So pony up and get the insurance on the 600cc.. That'll impress way more girls than you buying a 250.

Also if you're ugly guess what - when the helmet comes off, you get laughed at. Riding a stealth black R1 won't help you there. Likewise, the girls will likely be leaving you and your cool *** R1 for the entry level construction worker who's built like a tank and doesn't own a bicycle.

Haha yeah.
On a side note, I currently have a 300 and have had a Cbr 250. Hands down the Cbr is better fabricated. But I love my 300!

you need to get reading on ninjette.org then.

Its the most basic form of jetting the carbs...

There are two needles in your carbs which regulate the flow of gas. By adding a few shims under the needles it raises them so you get more fuel flow. This stops the bike from running super lean (more air than fuel) and allows it warm up quicker. Not all bikes are as lean others from the factory so first you need to determine how your specific bike behaves. Some only need one shim while others require 2-3, some also need to have the snorkel removed to balance the fuel/air ratio. A snorkel is this thingy attached to your airbox which restricts airflow.

It may sound complicated but its a fairly simple process. It just requires removing the tank which is pretty easy, you don't need to remove the carbs. Then again you could get a bike that is perfectly fine...They may have improved the jetting on the later year models.

Shims are these things, you can find the right size at any shop that specializes in RC cars...

better yet....buy a dynojet kit (+ - $70) and a K&N air fliter (+ - $40)....they both come with nice stickers you can put on your bike....adds to the cool factor

Just joking with you... the word 'manly' in your first post made me chuckle.

On a more helpful note, if part of your definition of 'manly' is 'bigger', you may want to look at the Hyosung 250. It's still a small engine, so should fit your insurance budget, but the actual size dimensions of the bike are closer to most 600's. Might fit you better, if you're a big manly man.

Aw hell yeah, I ride a 250 and I'm drowning in pussy! Well, at least the first part is true...

edit: One problem I do find with my bike is that when I have a passenger, it's really slow/sluggish... I guess a bigger bike would solve this.

110 bucks for all that or 5 bucks for washers...

These look like stainless steel washers. Are these of a special material or can simple washers be used?

Yea, shims/washers same ****...
You need 3mm ones, they're kinda hard to find unless you know where to look. Find a shop in your area that sells Tamiya RC cars, you'll get em there.
