i have a few question hopefuly you guys can help me

1. how do you like the bike
2. what kind of issues does this bike have
3. how is it on the hwy can it keep up and pass cars with no issue
4. i read on the internet that the fastest it will go is 170 is this true?

thats all my question for now but im sure i will have some more as you guys response

thanks
:)

The 250 is a great motorcycle. Stop thinking in terms of what others may think of you or what is "manly" and just enjoy the bike.

Yes, the bike will max out at 165km/hr (approx) but when would you need to go faster than that anyways.

It has more than enough power for highway riding and passing, parts are readily available, is still faster than most cars on the road, and p.s.....girls can't tell the difference anyhow ;)

1) I like it a lot, and love mine after setting it up to better suit me. I'm in my 5th season so I'm very experienced with it and have done just about everything you can do on it...it can get it all done other than go stupid fast in a straight line

2) Cold starts/running lean, which is easily fixed by shimming the needles. Once properly set up carbs are not nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Some may drink a little oil, depending on how its ridden. Can't blame the thing when its bouncing off the redline the whole time. Other than that its bullet proof.

3) Yes, I routinely go faster than everything around me.

4) Yes, I've hit 164 on the GPS and it was showing about 180 on the speedo.

Any other questions let me know, I have over 60k km on it and like I said I've done just about everything there is to do on it. And buddy above is right, girls cannot tell the difference...I was out with a few other riders last week and these random girls that wanted pictures with a sport bike asked to pose with me and my bike when there was a bunch of supersports and other bikes to choose from...

great little bikes, fast enough for a bigger guy,I am 6foot tall and 180lbs and had no problem getting it up to speed, not all that comfy but you are still riding;).

I have one and you really cant go wrong got mine brand new for 4K (2012) keeps up everywhere will max out at 165k...fast enough to lose it for 'stunt driveing" insurance is cheap its light handles great most people think its a 600 mine is completly stock. yes its ONLY a 250 . i had one guy at work knock it and i said wheres your bike? course he dosent have one so STFU!.

Look for the older ZZR250, full fairings and a bigger perceptional profile. More farkles than new bike + an aluminium frame.

sounds like you don't like it already, get a dirtbike, throw it in the back of a pick up truck and park at your local timmies....girls will flock like seagullls

Started on a 250 few years ago, sold it a month after and got a 600. I suggest starting on the 250 if you havent rode street befor, but you will get very board with it very fast. Well atleast I did.

1) Love it, great bike to learn on. However, I will be upgrading to a SS when I turn 25 (long time from now ;_; insurance....sigh)
2) None really, got mine with 10k on it, I put about 14k on it last year and it literally has not had 1 issue aside from the high beam going out.
3) Like you, I thought it wouldn't be able to handle the highway based on what I heard - which was a huge misconception. It goes 120 effortlessly which is what most cars on the hwy travel.
4) Yeah, if you're light I think you can top 170, most people I know that ride one top at about 165.

As already mentioned, girls can't tell the difference and they'll always want to ride lol. Plus, it looks pretty sweet when you pick your gf up from school on your bike and everyone is mirin.
You can still beat most cars off the line, if that matters to you.

Don't overlook the cbr250. I went from that to the ninja, and wish I hadn't. Doesn't have the top line like the ninja does; only goes about 150 tops, but way more low end torque (better off the line). Ride and build quality is way better, like Mercedes vs Chrysler. Has FI so you don't have to worry about carbs/jets/shims bla bla. Sounds better too, like a thumper instead of a sewing machine.
Don't overlook it. OK I dissed the ninja so they're all going to pile on now, even though I own one. The only argument they have is that "some" ninjas can go 170 (mine has never) and the cbr only goes 150. It's still enough to get you in lots of trouble.

EDIT: oh yes and the ninja 250 is truly a girl's bike... you'll find out between your legs pretty quick that it wasn't designed with men in mind. The cbr seat/tank combo didn't mash my nuts every time I hit the brakes.

OP better ride on 250cc than nothing at all.

I'd personally go for the 300.

Other than the CBR250 there's also the WR250X if you're interested in something like a supermoto. Or you could look into insurance on something like a DRZ400 or Ninja 400.

1. Traded mine in last month for an SS but I absolutely love my Ninja 250. I am sure it still had tons to teach me but I am not getting any younger and for me I only bought it to learn riding basics. I pick up my ZX6R a week from today.

2. No issues with this bike at all. People (CBR250 people) like to complain about the lack of F/I. Never bothered me at all, the bike always started. Letting it warm up gave me a chance to get all my Fs%$$'n gear on.

3. I never max'd out the speedo but yes you can keep up. Over 90kph I didn't find it had tremendous take over power but it is a two-fiddy. But 99.9% it had enough power for how I was riding.

4. Everything on the internet is true because no one would lie (Youtube Ninja 250 top speed).

If you're not riding a 250 at the top end, you're doing it all wrong anyways...

Mercedes vs Chrysler?? Ok there...

All Ninjas look wayyyyy better than the tard CBR, which should have been named the VFR250... It does not resemble any CBR at all.

Sensitive much? I ride at the top end (legally of course). Mine just can't go that fast unless I have the wind at my back down a hill. the cbr250 is just made better, appearances aside. That is all.

Let's see those ripped up wheels of yours to prove that ninjas are better. Then go argue about iphone vs. android.

hahaha:lmao: Says the guy who comes in defending a bike that he doesn't even ride anymore and this thread is not even about. You miss the Ninja 250 thread title with the letters in CAPS? Android FTW :agave:

Just saying, if he's looking at 250s, the cbr should not be overlooked, it's a great ride.

I have a cbr 250

1) Love it, really light bike. Ppl that ride with me know I'm a wheetard when it comes to ramps/twisties
2) None - 0 issues. I know there are certain cbr 250's that had problems (google them) But luckily for me I didn't get a lemon. At 19,200 km and still going strong and have 0 issues
3) I maxed my 250 at 175 km/hr...as for passing cars on hwy i just drop a gear down to pass
4) See #3

I have ridden both the ninja 250 and cbr 250 and I would choose the cbr hands down. Reason why? Find the cbr 250 to be slightly more lighter and that extra torque sure helps :D but each to their own. Both bikes are great.

Does anyone know if any stealerships still have brand new 250s? And what to expect to pay for cash price? Sold my bike, and Im thinking of buying brand new to avoid the hassles of previous owners.
