Carb Syncing

What are some places around that can sync a set of 4 carbs for cheap? I've heard Ultimate Cycle will do them for $40. Anywhere cheaper? Closer to Brampton?

Get yourself a set of manometers, have a go at it yourself. Some bike are easier than others; some bikes have adjusting screws easily accessible on the side of the bike, others require a contortionist with special tools and asbestos hands ($40 is a deal)

yeah i was going to say $40 is a fair pricel! you gotta let the guy make some money too. if anyone is doing it for less they are probably tossing off with your carbs...

$40 is a ****ing steal. For that amount of money some poor bastard has to take off your tank, your air box, install vacuum adapters, hook up an auxiliary fuel supply, hook up the vacuum gauge or manometer, sync your carbs, put everything back together and deal with the occasional ******* who come back to ***** because their rpm still flutters a bit at idle.

$40? Most shop rates are $80 an hour or so and there's no way they're billing less than an hour for a carb synch.
I'd either jump on that deal or run like hell!

$40 is a good deal, but I like doing things myself. Build your own manometer or buy one, it will pay for itself in no time.

True that!
If it was $40, I'd just let him do it

Ya I know HOW to do it, I just don't have the tool. I'm gonna send it to Ultimate Cycle to have it done for $40. They're a pretty reputable shop from what I've heard. If anyone HAS the tool, even a set of two, I'd really appreciate borrowing them. There's just one carb that has to be synced to the other three.

its probably 40 bucks with the carb already removed...

I have that carb sync tool, the 4 cyl version.

Works very well, and very compact, so it doesn't take up a lot of space up. They also use steel rods instead of a fluid.

It has come in handy for syncing my TB's on my bikes, friends bikes and a friends boat.

But for $40, i would have just did that instead of buying the tool. It isn't hard, but a lot of labour like mentioned by sixstring

I assume you have the carbtune or carbtune pro? The problem I found with that tool is if you hook up all four vacuum chambers to a single vacuum source, not all the rods float at the same level. From what I've seen of the inside of the carbtune, you can adjust the tension of the springs holding the rods down but I'm not sure how much adjustment there is.... anyways just something to consider. Having a carb tune tool that can be sync'ed is important. Otherwise you'll never be able to get a perfect balance unless you leet enough to 'feel' what the bike wants.

I very much doubt that Bryan (at Ultimate) will do anything for less than his standard $60 per hour shop rate. The other issue down there is that unless you're a crony you could be waiting days to get it done.

Buy the carbtune learn how to do it (lots of vids on youtube) and make some money doing your buddies. For around $100 it will pay for itself in a couple of jobs.....if you charge $40:lmao:

is ultimate cycle the shop in hamilton?

i'm looking for someone to set up my FCR, does anyone know a good shop in the east end?
