Motogp 2013

One thing I was wondering the other day and it's hard to see in the videos---are these MotoGP gods constantly blipping to rev-match when downshifting, or they are solely relying on slipper clutches and maybe even have the ECU do the rev-matching for them?

from somewhere else:

Generally, in riding, you use clutch for both upshift and downshifts. For normal track riding/racing for production bikes, clutch is only used for downshifts. Upshifts there are 2 ways. First, slightly close throttle, upshift and wide open throttle. No clutch is used. Second method is use of quick shifter. U dun have to play with throttle at all. As u try to upshift with gear lever, there will a be sensor(quickshifter) which will detect pressure, which will retard ur ignition for milliseconds and gear goes up in place.MotoGP, all upshifts are with quickshifters. Downshifts, they can choose not to use clutch. As there is slipper clutch as well as traction control.Slipper Clutch prevents rear wheel lockup under heavy downshifting.Traction Control electronically controls and prevents the rear wheel from spinning faster than the front.

For the last race, Cal was actually saying that they turned down the power a bit to make it more manageable. From my understanding, they can adjust this during the race, too.

To make it manageable for the rider, not the GP rules.

Traction control doesn't 100% control the rear wheel. It helps to control rear spin, but isn't always the case. Riders can still spin/drift intentionally if they want to... and even if they don't want to.

Good quality pics - where did you find them?

This picture made me giggle: http://ps165929.dreamhostps.com/torrents/photos/MotoGP%202013%20R01%20GP%20Qatar%20P2/Bridgestone/R01_Qatar_005.jpg

Look at the guy behind Hayden. Totally looking at his *** with a weird face.

That video of the Attack CRT bike was cool, minus the music. I'm curious as to how it will do. I don't really know what their long term goal is...I think their main effort has gone into the engine, which won't really matter after this year - Honda and Yamaha are selling packages, so they can't really sell it, and I'm not sure what their chassis is like.

So according to Asphalt & Rubber:

Lorenzo "It's one of the most difficult tracks to learn"
Cal had a flight cancellation and saw the track for the first time last night (drove around on a scooter in the dark and tweeted "Couldn't see much but if you learn in the dark, surely should be good in the light!")
Spies "Most technical and long track I've ever been to" - "The track is world class"
Rossi stuck in Chicago for passport control, missed connection, flew to Houston this morning and drove to Austin
Lorenzo "One of the biggest up-hills I've ever seen on a race track"

Should be an awesome race!!

It's going to be an exciting race tomorrow.
If Marquez doesn't win the race, he'll still be getting a podium and hopefully Rossi can make something happen.
