I'm looking for mesh textile pants with armour and I want to be able to wear a pair of jeans underneath, because I want more protection than just the jeans would offer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

PM sent Shane.

I have some Olympia Airglide mesh pants which have served me well for about 3 or 4 years. Adjustable knee armour, good length, flow air quite well and come with a liner for cooler and wetter weather. Quality is good and will likely replace them with Airglides again when the time comes.

I like my REV'IT Tornado pants and would buy it again!

the one that fits right.

Sad as it sounds its best to try gear tell you find what fits you great. Sometimes you luck out and its not to priceya nd sometimes its expensive.

thats sqaid the Olympia stuff is top notch. I also have good luck with dainese, firstgear, Fieldsheer, REV'IT and scorpion. These brands run the range of pricess but are top notch. But ya go to stores try on and find what fits you. Nice fitting clothing in middle of hot summer better then somthuing thats to lose or tight in hot sweaty traffic.

If you're going to wear mesh pants over jeans, you won't be getting any air flow through to your legs anyway. You might as well just wear a single pair of non-ventilated pants, maybe a heavier leather/textile combo like the Alpinestars Sport A10 Leather/Textile. All the protection you would ever need, short of a leather track suit.

I have the same pants and they work well. For brutally hot and humid days skip the pants and just wear your jockeys or briefs.

who carries Olympia here in the GTA? (I'm not into ordering online and finding out it doesnt fit)

I've had a pair of Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants since 2010. Admittedly I don't wear them very often, usually only if I'm going out on a long ride into areas I don't frequent, but they've paid for themselves on at least one occasion.

My first real "accident" was 100km out of town near the end of my 2010 season, making a U-turn on a backroad not paying attention as I hit a deep gravel shoulder. Dumped the bike before I even knew what happened, and it landed pretty hard on my left leg and foot. Other than being a little sore, no rash or anything and I'm sure if I'd only been wearing jeans & runners as opposed to the Alter Ego and Icon Field Armour boots, I wouldn't have gotten up so quickly.

They're bulkier than I'd want for daily commuting and sometimes uncomfortable, which is the main reason I don't wear them often. For short rides or commuting I'd probably want something more like the Icon overpants Slow1 mentioned, but if I feel anywhere I'm going may be a bit sketchy, I'll wear the Alter Egos.

I sized mine at a local Yamaha shop, but purchased from Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters www.tellicomoto.com. after checking out CAN pricing. Pant were $200 US delivered to my door via USPS with no taxes or duty. Moab jacket was $260. If memory serves me correctly here this was about 35% - 40% less than the all in cost locally.

Thanks for the reply.

Rev'it tornado pants also look good

Not looking to open that can of worms again, but I prefer to shop locally. Olympia Motosports is available at GP Bikes, Snow City, Oakville Yamaha, and perhaps others.

thanks.. yep, agreed... especially when you hit the sales. Some stores like GP have exceptional Customer Service, and that is often more important to me than save $20.
I hear Olympia have good customer service too.. read a ton of reviews on RevZilla..

+1! every time I go there those guys never cease to impress me.

I am in the same boat as the OP. Anyone who fits an XL should check out Royal Distributing in Guelph. They have some stuff on red tag. Tried on Joe Rocket Alter Ego 11.0 there. Great deal since they are last year's model. Alas the middle age spread is just keeping me out of an XL. Otherwise I would have sprung for the pants even though I plan to try on the Olympia Airglides at Apex in Cambridge.

The Olympia Airglides are about $50 more than the Joe Rocket. Not sure if they are worth the extra $ or not since I have not tried on the Olympia yet. Tons of great reviews and happy bikers out there wearing the Airglides.

Edit: I should also note that I tried on an older model of Joe Rocket Phoenix at Zdeno Cycle. These would be awesome for use in the really hot weather. Over some jeans they would work on colder days and on their own they would be great with shorts underneath when it is blazing hot. I just am not sure if they would provide enough protection against road rash though.
