Motogp 2013

^^^ hmmmm pulled the 'front sprocket' quote from the MotoGP interview with Edwards??? So maybe the front did that to the rear???

hmmm. It's really damn hard to break the front sprocket compared to the rear. Maybe they misquoted him? The pic is definitely of the rear, but if the front sprocket failed I'm sure the chain could have broke the rear sprocket like that (you can see all the scratch marks on the rear sprocket from the chain rubbing the side of it).

^^^^ well whatever happened it sure sucked for him. Hopefully his luck is better at his home race.

CRTs will change next year, as they get Yamaha engines and Honda packages. They've stepped up their game from last year, though. They're providing some entertainment in the back currently, and watching them qualify is pretty neat still.

Yeah, I'm hoping the new non-MSMA spec will improve both the performance of the backmarkers, along with the grid sizes.

Here are a couple of articles re: 2014 rules

Just watched MotoGP (thanks Jamie!). Random comments:

[1] Funny to see umbrella chicks at night. No sun - but I think they made the right call.
[2] Notice how the women on the podium were a bit 'heavy', and covered up. Welcome to Qatar.
[3] Motogp podium winners are always very small and light. Guys like Ben Spies don't have a chance since they are normal weight. How come nobody ever talks about this?

I hear the announcers talk about Pedrosa's weight advantage all the time, especially at the starting line when he gets ahead of everyone else 9 times out of 10.

However, there was a good article on MotoMatters a couple of years ago about this very topic:

I just thought this was awesome!

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing photos. Apparently Marquez just took down his Rossi posters this year.

Good quality pics - where did you find them?
The MotoGP organization releases an encrypted archive of photos to the media. Someone from the media leaks them to us :) Part of the archive was corrupt, usually there's photos from every single team. Maybe next race :)

Never noticed how damn small is the sprocket on the honda

I heard they run a small rear sprocket and a large front sprocket because they can shave 2 links off the chain length = lighter! lol. I guess possibly the net weight of the two sprockets would be less too.

Think about what you just wrote....
Ahhh yes, that gearing would be pretty whacked. Hmmmm. So I guess they are running extra small front sprocket so they can drop the size of the rear a bunch too. Peeps on the R1 forum were explainin why the M1 was running a small rear, 2 links shorter chain, etc.

Ahhhhhhh! Damn commercials on Speed!!! I did see him for 2 seconds on the back but they never said what that was about!! They always go to commercials at the most retarded spots :(

I thought you had to have enough fuel in your bike to have it pass tech/dyno run after the race, or is that not in MotoGP?

-Jamie M.

You think they do dyno runs and there is a hp limit in motogp?

I guess I had my race organizations mixed up! Just remember reading that someone lost their podium spot because their bike ran out of gas on the post race tech dyno. Obviously it wasn't MotoGP :)

-Jamie M.

No HP limit. Why do you think podium is usually reserved for Yamaha, Honda and (sometimes) Ducati?

For the last race, Cal was actually saying that they turned down the power a bit to make it more manageable. From my understanding, they can adjust this during the race, too.

One thing I was wondering the other day and it's hard to see in the videos---are these MotoGP gods constantly blipping to rev-match when downshifting, or they are solely relying on slipper clutches and maybe even have the ECU do the rev-matching for them?

Also, I just wonder, completely hypothetically, if you take 1x Rossi and 1x my K3 GSXR 1000, and put he combo on 1x TMP, is he going to totally annihilate everybody on the track, or the fast guys will be actually pretty competitive with him? Well, that disregarding the certain possibility that Rossi might crash on the first corner by maybe having unreasonable expectations of the bike, but let's not consider that for now.
