Parker brothers close shop

Have you tried going by the shop? There might well have been something posted on the door. There usually is, in cases like this.

Someone told me that John Deere use Kawasaki motors.
Is that true?

Which Kawasaki?

You have to remember that for Kawasaki, motorcycles are a tiny bit of their business.
And yes, John Deere does use their engines:

Interesting, was driving through back streets in the same area, and there is a bike shop literally on the street behind where PB used to be. Has anyone heard anything about "Canada Cycle Sport" on Bering ave in Etobicoke?

Interesting. Glad to see it was all because of the internet shoppers.......

Yeah, I know the guys next door well (Automotive Techniques) - John and Walter - recommend them for car work if you guys need anything.
That bike shop on the other hand is a bit shady. Only wants to take cash. Was gonna buy a jug of oil since I was getting my car worked on by AT dudes and had time to kill. The owner of the CCS tried to push some super dusty bottle of something I've never heard off. I told him I prefer Motul. His price was worse than Riders Choice (where I usually buy oil since it's on my way back from work) and he told me no debit and no credit.... Very little work seems to be done at this shop btw. Place is messy and dirty inside. Some stuff looks like it hasn't moved in years.

Very sad to see Dave and his staff go. I had the pleasure of dealing with them when I purchased my KTM Superduke back in 2007. They will be missed. The community has lost one of the better stores without a doubt.

All my best wishes to Dave and the staff.

It's already turned into one of those shady looking used car dealerships.

This is the method today.

stores are charging unnecessary money for stuff you can buy cheaper online...damn pirates.

So people go into the bricks and mortar stores to try on the stuff cuz god forbid they pay for something without trying first....then they order online.

I wonder what people will do when they have to buy something online and resort to paying back and forth shipping for stuff they don't like simply because they wanted to save a few bucks rather than get serviced properly onsite?

I guess you completely missed my point.......

For what it's worth, I agree with you and wonder why Royal seems to do so well..... oh yeah, selection and stock, crazy concept.

Yep, pretty much.

When I used to visit brick and mortar stores, I wanted basic supplies, clutch cable, turn signal, brake pads. Nothing rare. More often than not, those items were never in stock. It was always offered that the store could order them in, but that will require extra trips and more of my time wasted. I now order online and the items show up at my door.

I needed wheels for my car recently. I checked online and saw what was available. Then I went to some local shops to see if I couldn't get something in the ball park price wise. The best I got was the salesperson showing me a catalogue and then phoning the distributor for a price. Which was the same company I could buy from online. Why would I shop from them when all they are doing is making me go to their store to pick up instead of having them delivered to my door?

I am sympathatic to shop owners in the internet shopping age, but, don't expect me to pay more for poorer service. Figure out a new way of doing business or suffer the realities of the modern age.

Actually a funny little story. Two weeks ago I drove to Kitchener to visit A Vicious Cycle. I wanted to support my "local" shop. They had everything except for a quick strap goggle kit, no biggie the guy says, he'll have to order them. I kind of roll my eyes, but then he says they'll ship it right to my door when it comes in. Two days later it was sitting in my mailbox.

Last week I call to inquire about getting something shipped from them. The website wanted 12$ for shipping. I figured perhaps they'll cut me a deal or something if I make a little effort by calling them. The guy said to me that I could save the shipping by coming there. The way he said it and the quickness with how he said it, has turned me off going there again.

Proof you can't please everyone...

Really? If they offered to ship it to me and it came in 2 days I would be grateful, that's the kind of service I don't mind paying extra for. He's trying to save you $12, I don't understand why you wouldn't go there again.....

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. They had no problem with free shipping since I drove there and they didn't have it. THEN they wouldn't budge at all over shipping when I didn't want to drive almost two hours for one item.

The first time was awesome, the second time wasn't.
