questions about RADAR detectrors and what do the police use?

Most ins companies don't care about 1 ticket.

It's all in the spin you may not get surcharged for 1 but you are ineligible for a clean record discount. Also everyone with 3 tickets started with just 1 using that same logic. I'd rather shop around for my insurance with a no claim no ticket record

Just confirming what we already know .... one of the other pluses is sticking it to the man. Toronto police love their laser guns

Yeah, I'm with State Farm and if it wasn't for my few tickets I'd have an insanely cheap rate for a SS. However, due to the few tickets I got, I was hammered. And yes, we start with one and think it's no big deal until we get the second. Great thread keep the info flowing.

SF is the only place that will take ppl with SS bikes
TD is almost double the price for me
Clean record no claims

I'm still curious about mounting the system in your jacket. I mean a cop is going to do just about whatever he pleases, but I'd think it would be harder for them to search you than your vehicle. Might be easier to fight in court if he shouldn't have been able to search you for it in the first place.

Well you would have to devise a method of pointing the rd in the correct position while wearing it ... not to mention plugging and unplugging yourself. But aren't you operating under the old paradigm that the cops get an indication that you are using one.

I don't worry about this because I never give them a reason for stopping me

Opportunity knocks for GoPro here. GoPro as antenna? :-)

Certas / Desjardin Insurance (same) takes SS bikes as well.

Maybe ... Definitely the popularity of dash cams, sat radio, GPS etc has helped to conceal RDs

The problem for us is the case of the rd unit is part of the shielding so can't switch the guts around in different boxes
