questions about RADAR detectrors and what do the police use?

I don't understand how this helps at all? The cops radar detector detector beeps, then they tear apart your bike and give you a ticket.

In my mind, it's better to spend $1200 now and get something that works for years than $200 (cheap detector) + $395 (Radar detector ticket) for passing a cop once.

Those links are just the remotes for the detector.

The redline sti is 100% undetectable. The app is it's wireless remove control and display. You can hide the portable device somewhere under the hood. This way there absolutely no radar detector hardware in the vehicle and you can move it from vehicle to vehicle.

The video I have seen of the new cruiser mounted systems has cameras, integrated computer vision, simultaneous multi-car tracking, automatic license plate readers, and it is basically a rolling spy platform.

Just wait until they start deploying quad-copter drones to fine people. If you are in line-of-sight to a cruiser, the machines will have already seen you. The only advantage on a bike is that you don't have a license plate on the front.

The best speed trap detection is oncoming riders flashing their lights and tapping their helmets.

The helmet tap is always appreciated but not much help with a cruiser shooting radar on the move which tends to be the most common form of enforcement in rural Ontario.

That's why a Spectre proof rd is still a pretty good investment

the price of 1 ticket and insurance hike will pay for the radar detector
if you ppl don't think it will then its simple DONT SPEED

The speed limits are not reasonable. Everyone speeds.

Interesting discussion. I know little about RD and lazer jamming. Cops' radar/lazer traps don't worry me much - most are known if you travel that route at all and are therefore easy to manage.

I worry about the roving cruiser. I presumed that by the time your RD alerted you to the oncoming cop with active radar, you were boned. I get the impression from Spankyf's post though that the RD can protect you from a roving cruiser. Is that true?

rolling coppers are not a problem at all

im sure they do speed and they also cry when they get a ticket

Yes, because it's annoying and leaves people feeling powerless to know that speed limits are primarily enforced to generate revenue so that the drastically increasing costs of policing are easier for politicians to bear knowing that the police they are paying $100,000+ per year are bringing in $40,000.00 per year each in fines (or whatever the number is).

Add to that the fact that every cop I know speeds and they are almost guaranteed a pass if stopped makes some of us pretty angry with the situation.

Most Ont police forces spray radar around willy nilly so yes they r very easy to avoid. US enforcement tends to be trickier since RDs are legal in all but a couple of states. The Instant On radar gun can ruin your day if ur the lead man coming over a hill

Yeah, I sorta presumed that since they have limitless budgets they will always be one step ahead on the technology front. Seems the race isn't as one sided as I thought, however and that detectors do provide a pretty good chance of avoiding the radar and not being found by the cops.

Interesting.

I don't speed too excessively so I don't worry much. But with HTA 172 I do worry about the occassional burst of speed to pass and the potential for a world of hurt as a result. It may be cost effective to look into detection more.

Thanks for the info.

i have RD in my car and i dont speed
i mostly use it to inform me where they like to sit
just in case i ever had to speed
its good knowledge

I'm not trying to be offensive, but you are the only person I've ever heard of that doesn't speed. Even people I know that think "speeders" should be thrown in jail, actually routinely exceed the speed limits themselves. They just don't see what they do as "speeding".

Conversely, I know other people that think they speed by +5 all the time. They don't realize that with their un-callibrated speedometer they're actually still below the speed limit. :D

i never said i don't speed at all
i just don't do it all the time
and i have developed a ****** habit of driving in cruse control all the time
due to insane gas prices
plus define speeding ? 20 over is not speeding lol
speeding for me is like 49 over

Everyone does it. That's the real speed limit. But nothing ever changes, and you are in the line of fire if a cop is looking to pad his quota (or is bored).

See there is a difference I'm educated on that
As others are not
