Official Android Only Apps + Q&A!!!!

the only app that fits this vague description is Notif ahha

I was talking about apps like these that stay active on your notification bar...
Another example would be the stock market line that comes up in the iPhone notification bar and stays active there

A while back, there was a guy on here that managed to setup some hardware/software through his Android that would allow him to start his motorcycle... I can't seem to find it. Anyone on here know what I'm talking about and can provide a link?

Have you unlocked your Galaxy Note 2 and/or Galaxy S3 yet?
I followed these instructions, but how can I tell if they went through (without using another SIM).

If you can flash your phone/tablet with Cyanogenmod, it'll generally perform better and get rid of a lot of bloat. Here are my main recommendations, starting with the most important one, but then not going in a particular order..

F-Droid - It's a repository, like a separate market. All of the apps on it are free, open source and tested for unwanted functions (like tracking, reporting home etc etc etc). It has an update function.. I look up their website first and only use Google Play if they don't have something available

Tools
-Apps Organizer - Allows you to put launch folders on your desktop, one for each category of applications like Utilities/Multimedia/Navigation etc etc etc, thus reducing the clutter and each folder can contain a bunch of launchers
-Barcode Scanner - Useful from time to time
-Birthday Adapter - Gives me birthday notifications better than facebook ;)
-ConnectBot - SSH client (major geekery here)
-KeepassDroid - Excellent password walllet, multiplatform, got Keepass clients on every operating system like Linux/OsX/Windows/IOS
-Text Edit - Basic text editor
-Units - Unit converter

Multimedia and entertainment
-Cool Reader - Excellent ebook reader
-XBMC Remote - Use it to control my media center
-Frozen Bubble - fun game, great while you're hitting the can or waiting on hold
-XKCD Viewer - Stay on top of the comics with links to the explanation of each one in case it's TOO nerdy for you
-Vanilla Music - Very simple music player still allows bluetooth playback to my car deck

Work stuff
-Anstop - Decent stopwatch
-Countdown alarm - can use custom ringtone to notify you of the end of the countdown
-Maniana - Excellent task/shopping list manager, also has a widget
-Tallyphant - If you run tallies, very simple tool
-Alarm Klock - Great open source alarm clock, custom ringtones, loads of settings, good internationalization

Communication and Internet
-Sipdroid - my favourite Android softphone
-CSIP Simple - Not so simple but very powerful softphone
-Text Easy - Probably my only paid app (not counting the donations), great for SMS-spam
-Beem - IM client
-Chrome to Phone - send a webpage from your web browser to your phone

Navigation
-OsmAnd - Navigation tool using Open Street Map data sets. It's free, but then you have to download your own map sets and copy them to the phone or download them through the app. Navigation seemed to work ok abroad but I haven't tested it here so I can't guarantee if it's any good
-OSM Tracker - allows collection of track data

Pushbullet > (...) > Chrome to Phone - push links, pics, stuff from chrome to any of your devices

try it out it rocks my socks

Dashclock with Anydash is great too for lockscreens notifications at a glance on 4.2 + devices

Fitocracy for my workouts

CT right now.
SmartStart remote car starter.
Regular $249.99
Sale $179.99

one of the bad thing about this idea is that it will drain your battery in no time.

Sorry, I should clarify. He physically connected the phone to the bike through a dongle (not a remote start).

Seems pretty pointless? If you are already there why not just stick the key in????

JellyBean update problem?

I updated my HTC One S to JellyBean (4.1.1) and now I can't use the navigation without it crashing every 30 seconds.

It seems alot of people are having this problem with the update, If anyone has had this problem and found a fix let me know.

Cheers
