Is it just me, or have Toronto drivers gotten worse over the last few months.

Everybody and his brother are now cutting into your lane by hitting the blinker and thinking that they now own the lane beside them.

Now don't start flaming me because all of a sudden I'm getting cut off more than usual.
This isn't the case.

I rider to work every day in summer. I have idiots trying to cut into my lane 8-9 times a ride.
But this new trend is something completely new.

They don't even care what is beside them. Not even large transport trucks are safe.

Once that blinker is going, they own that lane.

What the hell is going on lately?

And let's not even get into texting and driving. How bad has that gotten lately?
After they've all seen there is Zero enforcement, they do it more now.

Lot's of different driving cultures in GTA, I don't think it's going to get better without some serious efforts on licensing requirements.

It may also be that you see the blinker going and instead of giving the person a chance to merge, you are accelerating so they don't get in front of you! maybe?

The more pricks we are on the roads and don't let people in, the more you are going to see people not giving a crap and cutting you off.

So if you are noticing people around you behaving worse, just think what is your piece of the puzzle on their behavior.

carry a gun , if they cut u off just shoot out the back window they will smarten up pretty quick lol , its not just toronto its everywhere , it seems the longer people have their drivers licence the more they forget how to accually drive

+1 Unless you're in a situation where it's quicker and safer for you to accelerate past them (ie, you're right next to them or close to), if someone has their blinker on let them in! I can't stand when people are just putting along but when you want to merge in they speed up to close the gap. It's as if everyone thinks they're in line for a door crasher deal on boxing day. Fyi, Not talking about you OP just agreeing with ZX600.

As for the clowns who don't look or care when they merge, half of them don't signal at all and it's not going to get better. Just gotta take it upon ourselves to be extra attentive and, if possible, let them know when they've done wrong (politely of course).
 
Cars have these things called horns that are intended to raise peoples awareness. Lay on it and liberally so when you need to draw another drivers attention.
Signals are also designed to draw attention to intentions. When someone is signalling, accept their intention. Or just pull out your Toronto card and don't let them in.
 
Honestly, i dont see why all the complaints. I've rarely had anyone cut me off on the bike or in the car... I do see bad drivers here and there but thats why you stay far away from them. If someone wants to get into your lane, let them... dont try to block them... Because thats what i see very often and then it becomes a game of road rage.
 
If you wanna see bad drivers, go to the round about at the kiss and ride at Kipling station. It's uncanny how many people don't know how to use a round about. Grinds my gears, but it's also entertaining.

In regards to lane changers, cooler heads will prevail. Let people in front of you. I have no problem with people coming into my lane. Provide ample time, proper signaling, and ill give you the space. Ill do the same to others.
 
Anybody notice how many new condos there are?
Has anybody noticed any new or wider streets?
How can it get better?

Totally agree with you here!

I try to be as courteous as possible when I drive or ride and I can count on one hand the amount of times that i was cut off since i was first licensed.

I see someones blinker and I will almost always let them in as long as it is safe to do so.
 
I always let people in, if they signal I always let them in. With the esception of the ****** move (person 10 cars behind you pulls into the merge lane..) those chumps need to work for it...

But i've noticed it too, allot more "agressive" drivers on the roads. I choose to be less agressive and look a few moves ahead and use the flow of traffic to my advantage.

Haha.. every once in a while i will mess with them on purpose and just drive right next to them so that they cant get in front or behind me! :angel4:
 
Dude. Relax. It's when you are approaching a slow moving car. Then at the worst possible time. On comes the blinker and over merges the idiot.

I feel I've become a more aggressive driver since moving to Brampton. It's kill or be killed out here.
 
News flash....the trend is already here and has been for the last decade....move out of the city, you will actually feel sanity start to fill you...**** T.O.
