Spring -- aka, when does the salt & brine typically end?

conundrum

Ok so I know it is a little early for this one, but just out of interest does anyone know when they typically stop salting & brining the crap out of the roads each year? I know it would largely come down to temperature/conditions, but assuming we do end up with a mild March, should that also mean clear roads before April?

Granted too, whenever they do stop here I figure it would still be another few weeks before the roads up north (Muskoka, Halliburton, Bobcaygeon, etc) are also 'free and clear' as well.

They stop salting when the weather stops snowing. You tell me when the weather will stop snowing.

Typically from what I've seen they continue beyond the snow -- just like how they were salting the crap out of things in early November when the temperature was still in the positives....hence my question. Essentially what I am wondering is say we do have a snowless March...does that mean they'll still be out there salting just like they did for our snowless November.

They sand the crap outta my street. Even after the snow stops it's gonna take alot of heavy rain to wash my street clean.

(puts kid-gloves on)..... when the temperature no longer dips close to the freezing point, during the day or night, they stop with salt and brine. In November it often reaches the negatives at night. Same thing in March and sometimes April.

(takes kid-gloves off).....now since no one can predict when the temps STAY warm enough I suggest you find a hobby to tide you over (maybe, hmmm, a Meteorology course might be fun).

**** the salt and brine, I hope to be out fulltime in March.

WIN!

OP - I've got my hose handy for days like that. A quick wash n she's golden. Mooar Riding!

^^ ditto, as long as the temps are in the + and no snow in forecast I'll take the bike out to work. Wash it when i get home.

Just be careful of the sand/salt dust on the roads still.

GTA should be salt free by mid April (other than the week or so after the traditional April snowstorm, whenever that happens). The surrounding regions will have crap on the roads well into May.

Your results may vary so take this with a grain of salt.

Edited to correct spelling. :D

Worry more about the gravel that collects in corners as the snow melts. Salt-assisted corrosion is slow at low temperatures, so wash it off before it does anything serious.
