Sport bikes and constant low revs - Does it cause damage?

I don't have any solid evidence for either side of the argument so I'd like to hear some opinions, preferably backed by references or experience but either way I want a discussion.

Long story short: I'm looking to upgrade and am looking at the used liter bike market. Now I understand that liter bikes are completely stupid and not practical for road uses (as has been bashed into my head by my gf) but I don't care! What does worry me, however, is that some riders keep their RPM in low all the time on liter bikes. Would this cause damage in the long run? I was just doing some fun morning read about Fireblade turbo mods and someone mentioned this.

p.s. I have no intention of adding a turbo!

No. It may coke up the ports in the head a bit, but I doubt even that.

If you run race fuel, then yes. Your plugs and ports will hate you. :)

Will be no problem; just ride in an appropriate gear for the road speed.

no....bet you $ 100 bucks You get the Rpms Up more then you think...

you wont be riding at low revs...the point of a litre bike is to be able to do 0-140 faster lol

nothing is more satisfying than a constant pull that 1000cc gives you. from 2000rpm up to whatever.

instead of that 600cc relatively no power until 8000 rpm or more...

also! you will be in love with the sound of a revving 1000cc...so there goes that low rev idea

But if you are heres some advice:

1) Stop listening to your girlfriend when it comes to anything motorcycle related.
2) You get plenty of torque in a 1000cc that's why you don't need to constantly rev the **** out of it like the smaller bikes.
3) Use common sense and you'll be fine. Cruising in 3rd at 60km/h is cool, cruising in 6th at 20km/h not a great idea, and if you have the slightest idea about riding a motorcycles you'd figure that out in about .001 seconds
4)You're not ready for a 1000cc
