Has anyone ever purchased a wreck from an insurance company or anything? Or is there a salvage place that buys them?
Thanks

Don't know of one in milton. London, Hamilton, stouffville, ottawa, and all over Canada.
But it's mostly cars with a few bikes, atvs, boats, campers...
Yes you have to be a dealer. I buy everything online impactauto.ca
Didn't buy anything for a long time because prices have been crazy, until last week when I bought a 08 zx10. But buying from pictures has its down sides, I knew it needed front end parts but couldn't tell from the pics that the frame was broken. You never know what you're getting even if you go look at it in person.
Bought bikes that had a blown head gasket
Anyone know anything about dealer plates and insurance? I thought it might be cheaper for me to become a "dealer" so I can just have one plate to swap between all my vehicles and maybe a lower insurance rate if I don't have them all insured and instead have some kind dealer insurance. Probably not though.
If you want to get a dealer's license, go for it... but it will cost you, so it's not really worth it.
Office, signs, licenses, city by-laws/regulations, etc.
Dealer insurance is NOT cheap.
Plus, getting pulled over for a "routine" check sucks!
I make sure I have all my documents when I'm driving because I get pulled over frequently with the dealer plate.
My friend was pulled over for a random check, the officer called his shop which nobody answered so they charge him with driving with the dealer plate at a time that his shop was not open for business! Crazy.Plus, getting pulled over for a "routine" check sucks!

A yellow service plate is only good for business hours.
I purchased my Moto Guzzi as a write-off from one of the Toronto insurance recovery centres -- Stark Auto Auctions. Stark resells wrecked vehicles including recreation vehicles like bikes, snowmobiles and ATVs which are obtained from insurance companies. The vehicles could be there for several reasons -- crashed, theft recovered, or retired. They first auction off, then try to sell the vehicles. Those that don't sell are parted and the remains sold for scrap metal. They generally have about 50 bikes in their inventory during the riding season. Anyone can purchase a vehicle from Stark; it's not limited to dealers only.Has anyone ever purchased a wreck from an insurance company or anything? Or is there a salvage place that buys them?
