State farm question

Hi All,

Currently insured with Jevco and renewal is coming up soon...

I have a couple quick questions regarding statefarm insurance (maybe someone can chime in). Ive tried to get quotes from SF in the past but ive been plagued with the "you are under 25 y/o so we wont insure you" nonsense. Ive just recently read you DO NOT need to be over 25... just need to have a minimum of 5 year driving experience.

1st Question: Do I need to be over 25 y/o? (currently 23) YES OR NO?

2nd Question: If you do not need to be over 25, what do they consider "driving experience"? total number of years with G1,G2,G, or M1,M2,M?

3rd Question: If they count the total number of LICENSED years do they only consider you IF you hold a FULL G license? (I have G2M2)

4th Question: If i can get a quote can someone point me towards a broker? Seems like every SF agent i talk too comes up with a different excuse WHY they cant insure me.

23 y/o
No tickets, accidents, claims, etc.
Had my G1 since 16 so ive had a "G" license for 7 years (but only carry G2)
Had M2 since 08. Insured 3 of the 4 years

Thanks! :)

1) No
2) Be Licensed for 5 (or 6...dont remember) years with a G1/G2/G
3) No, they start from when you're first licensed
4) My Agent is Scott Strike...State Farm agents will try not to write bike only policies, you either have to find one who will, or argue with them and convince them to. I have a car with them so its not a problem with me.

Is there SF insurance that in not through broker/ agent.?

I am pretty sure SF counts your license as 1 year max for G1, 1 year max for G2 and the remaining is your full "G". (This is what I was told from my broker....)
So say you had your G1 for 2 years and your G2 for 5 years and then your G for 1 year, You would have 3 years experience with the G-class license.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

This is what I fear will be their next excuse.... I dont have my "FULL G"

I'm not sure if they will insure you with your G2 or not...
However, they do require 5 years experience from your G1, or 6 years if you qualify for the A plan.
If you've had your G1/G2 since you were 16/17, you should book your G and get it over with.

It's not that they're not going to insure you until you're 25, you just get a big break when you turn that age.
You can still get insured with them, just don't expect a great rate!

No.

Edit: I believe all statefarm agents only deal with statefarm so there really is not difference.

A lot of people that have tried state farm in the past have said that. However that it not the case (anymore at least) I just got insured with state farm this year I have 5 years since my G1 but have only had my full G for a few months. They only cared if I had 5 years since my G1. However they did want a full G.

Any particular reason you're dead set on State Farm Insurance? They rate by CC not by class, so your FZ will be the same price as say an R1.

Never said I was dead set on getting insurance from them... just curious to see how they compare to what I am paying now. Ill have to see with them regarding the "same price as an R1". Would a 1L Harley be as much as an R1? Thats crazy.

A goldwing is more than a Hayabusa ;)

Yes. All about CCs. jeffjones is exactly right. My neighbour went with SF for his GoldWing 1800 (new to bikes, SF does his car and house) and he was outraged when he found out a Panigale is cheaper to insure with them.
