Racer shoves his way through a pass (video)

WOW thats speshul. What in the world made him think he'd get away with that?!

Publicity stunt? Never even heard of NOLA, let alone knew people road raced Harleys. But here we are!

Pretty epic

There's an entire class for 883's.

I say let him win. All's fair in love and racing.

AMA Rulebook:
2.13 On-Track Regulations
a. No rider may, at any time, ride in such a manner as to endanger
life or limb of other riders, AMA Pro Racing or the public.
b. Any rider, participant or team that intentionally engages in
activities, including by way of example but not limitation,
avoidable contact, with the consequence negatively impacting
a competitor’s performance will be subject to one of the following
penalties: disqualification from the current session, gridding at
the back of the field, loss of championship points, disqualification
from the event, suspension. Further official action will be at the
discretion of AMA Pro Racing.

I don't think either of these apply.
He did not endanger the other rider.
I am not an official on any race committee, so I may judge the way I see fit.

All he did was hold him back and possibly use the other riders momentum to propel himself.

Good in my books.

This was AMA Pro Racing. NOLA Motorsports Park is the track. The Harley XR1200 series is a national series in both Canadian superbike, British superbike, and AMA.

There's an entire class for 883's.

Those are XR1200 not 883. There was nothing fair about that move. He clearly violated AMA rules.

By pulling on his arm he is affecting the throttle and steering of his competitors bike. If that isnt dangerous I dont know what is. Also, you can see it forces him to reduce throttle which is why he made the pass, not by using his momentum.

Ok, I agree that he should not win the race.

That was a cheap shot.

I only have seen the 883's on the dirt track.
I don't think 1200 race on the dirt. But I could be wrong.
I'm not up on road racing that much.
My bad.

Yes, correct. But I believe that he did actually pull back a little as well, making himself pick up speed faster.

the whole XR1200 design is that of a dirt tracker. haven't really heard of 883s doing any racing.

The rule is obviously applicable, as interfering with someone's throttle and braking is clearly dangerous, AND interfered with the rider's performance.

And yes, they're XR1200s. They race them in Canada and the UK too.

It was certainly "avoidable contact"... And that was the ruling.

Drugs are bad dude. How in the world does that make any sense?

And what he did was incredibly dangerous, i'm amazed he didn't receive massive fines/suspension for the incident.

If you look really closely he is actually pulling the lead rider backwards.
If you do this to another rider, you will pick up speed, while you hold him back.
If you don't believe me, go try it on bicycles on your street.
It's plain that he did it.

And stop suggesting that I use drugs please.
