Preventing Dangling Keys from Scratching the Bike

Not a problem on my Triumph. House keys go in a pocket.

Remove the key, shove up your butt, then put it back when you get to the destination
I do this all the time. Works like a charm

Attach the keys to a lanyard and leave it around your neck while you're riding. Should do the trick. Eventually.

I can foretell bad things are gonna happen

Finally some solid advice. Does the length of wood matter, or type of wood?

Has to be antique redwood and nothing under 5ft in length

Sorry for the troll posts OP somtimes some questions just should not be posted to forums.

Guys on an unrealted post how can i guard my chain from being hit or hitting me in case of a break. It would also be nice if i could guard against the lube spraying of as it spins.

Ok, enough horseplay.... here is the real solution to your dangling key issue.

Replace the locks on your house and motorcycle with 18th century locks and use an 18th century double ended key.

While you are at it, get a pimp'n helmet...

I agree. but since there has been real replies to this questions with varying useful answers, i don't believe this question is completely invalid. However, if one's foremost interest in this community isn't trying to be helpful, I understand where all the trolls are coming from. Of course this makes me extra appreciative of those who really are around to help out a fellow rider no matter how simplistic the question may be. I don't want to dwell on this anymore as I hold nothing against those who have trolled. cheers.

Dude, everyone's having a bit of fun at your expense. The thing about anythign dangling on your bike is that it will ALL rub against something and it will end up with that one repeately rubbed area becoming worn out.

"that's what he said"

Short of making them stick straight up, the solution is to allow a small light fob to rub on the tree or tank, or you just use the key by itself - it's better to have it solo cuz it reduces any unnecessary wear/weight on the barrell.

My key and key chain.

Not sure why I brought the Subaru keys with me today. They are my least favorite to carry around (since they are as big as the rest of the whole keychain and all keys combined and even more bulky).

With all my keys that don't require dongles or special security I go make a copy, cut down the back as much as possible to reduce bulk and clutter, put a bit of heatshrink on it so they don't jingle when on my belt loop, and attach to one of these little S-clips. Usually I have a couple more car keys that don't bulk up much and don't jingle but I realized there was no point in carrying them around unless I want to look like a janitor (which I don't).

Came in the mail a few years back for free. Figured why the hell not? I'll throw it on there and hope it somehow improves my chances of getting my keys back if I lose them.
