Thoughts on the GSX650F?

Looking around for my next ride and the GSX650F is at the top of my list SV650
Some people were spanking some SV650's around the track last time I was there. If you were ever thinking about doing track with your street ride, the SV650 would be at the top of my list out of the bikes you listed.

If you get a 2007 to 2010 we can uncork the ECU and really let her rip :)

Rode the cbf 600 and it felt way too small and down on power.

I used to ride one a couple years back. Great bike. Lots of mid range power to roll onto. No need to ride it red line like SS bikes. Good seating position and cheaper on insurance as its not a SS. Heavy bike, but is stable at speed and very practical for daily use. I commuted on it for daily. Can be mistaken for a gixxr by non motorcycle types. Lots of good mods can be done to the bike. Yoshi pipe sounds great on it. Also not commonly stolen either.
PM if you want more info on them.

down on power? what were you comparing it to? A CBR 1000?

The CBF has more than enough power

I guess it was since I just demo rode a varadero right before I got on the CBF 600 now that I think about it.

Did a demo on the GS650F and was pleasantly surprised. Thought it might have been a pansy, but seemed to have adequate power. The handling of it didn't seem to far from a true sport bike. Mind you though this is my opinion after only doing a 30 minute demo. Take all the bikes you've listed out for a ride, that's the only way you'll truly know if it's right for you.

Test rode it for a week, was a fairly decent street bike. The ergos are comfy for extended riding and its light and nimble enough for city commuting. Of the few listed however, I'd recommend the SV. It is just a little more sporty is all.

Of the choices above, the SV650 would be the way to go.

Can't comment on the SV650 that people are touting, since I've never ridden one, but I'll echo
Kiwi's comments a few posts up. I bought a new 2010 GSX650F in late July 2 years ago, and I've
been very happy. More than peppy enough, nice handling, comfortable on all-day jaunts, reasonable
on fuel, and pretty good looks, too, in my opinion.

+1 for the SV, altho I'm a little biased.

I did ride the gsx650f on a demo, and while I liked the ergos and the bike felt much lighter than it is, i just didn't feel like it had enough power.

enough power? hmm.. well I was riding a few weeks back and another rider had a gsxf650. He and enough power to keep up in the corners for sure. If you're talking 200km/h + speeds, then no, it wont go that fast.

btw - the 4 Cycliner inline engine sounds so sweet :)

The GSX650F is very popular in Australia and Europe. Theres a few dedicated websites around the internet if wanted to read up more.

OP. I would suggest you go and try and ride/demo the bikes you are interested in.

I should have been more specific, it seemed like it was lacking in the bottom end, and even when moving up into the powerband it didn't really have the pull I was expecting. It's plenty powerful for your day to day riding, i just felt like it needed a little more.

ah, I see. Yeah, Its power is in the mid-range.

I've got a GSX650F

I love it. The damn buzzer just gone so I have to get back to work.

Nice power delivery, Good handling, I like the riding position and its returning aroun 60mpg.

It's a great all-around bike. Not really outstanding at anything, but good at everything. Sort of a modern UJM standard, with fairings. Very comfortable seating position.

Sounds great with a Two Brothers pipe.

Friend has one and has complained from day one about nosiy valves? Any one else? Oh bought at S0N and of course dont have to tell you how that went lol

I had one for a year before I traded it in at SON. No issues at all. Loved the bike. I would've kept it if it didn't cost extra to insure. It tops out at 240, so doing 200+ might be pushing it a bit. Overall a great bike for the price.
