Luggage Straps

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for straps to secure bags/luggage to the bike outside of RokStraps? I was about to buy them but the shipping was 50% of the cost of the straps! So $37 for a set of straps? I may be a little cheap but seems excessive for shipping.

Any suggestions for good/better straps? CT straps should work just as well but they're not marketed as specific for motorcycles. Also I've not been able to find a store that sells them direct in the West End?

Plan is to strap down a duffel bag sometime on the back of the bike...also possibility of using a mesh cargo net.

EDIT: Also other option is to just buy a rack for the rear and strap to this rack, instead of spending $100+ on a hard tail pack.

You should be able to find Rok Straps locally. I know dualsport plus in stoney creek has them but there has to be somewhere in the gta...

Any bike store should have straps, cargo nets, etc. I bought my Rok straps from Dual sport, much much cheaper then the price you listed.

I know for sure that Snow City here in Scarborough sells Rok Straps, as does A Vicious Cycle in Dundee if you're ever (way) out that way. They're around $23-25 for the larger more common size, and I think in the range of $15 or so for the smaller size. I would call Kahuna and see if perhaps they sell them, but otherwise I don't know of any shops in/closer to the Etobicoke area unfortunately.

BTW, I would absolutely recommend them; I have carried all sorts of things on my bike with Rok Straps. Tires, large rubbermaid-style containers, extra gear, bags etc. Cargo nets are useful, but even moreso when secured properly with something like the Rok Straps which can be adjusted to whatever length & tightness you require.

Hey guys,
Most (all) the stores I see that carry them are on the east end. The RokStrapsCanada website sells them for $23.95 which is fine, but then another $13.00 makes it pretty expensive for the 18-60" strap.
thanks!

A Vicious Cycle out near Kitchener sells them.

They're good to deal with, and shipping was reasonable on other purchases I made. Not sure what they'd charge to ship straps though. It's not a bad ride if you just want to pick them up at the store.

Sweet thanks! I just went on their site and ended up buying them.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help!

Could've done a GTA group buy as well to save on shipping. This thread is good though, I was looking to buy them locally. Unless they're significantly cheaper out of the US...

i didn't research too much but the price on amazon was $22 which was too low for free shipping. The price here is within 2$ of the dual sport one so I'm ok with that but thanks for letting me know. Way cheaper than a rack + top box but def not as secure/waterproof.

Somehow I missed that post above mine. Now I gotta spend like $100 on straps. :P

You guys like to spend money.

I bought a cargo-net that was about $10 from Royal, and I got a pack of multi-length bungee cords from the dollar store.

Did the trick for two weekend-touring rides (> 500kms) I've done.

They can all serve different purposes. The Rok strap is nice as its adjustable, so when I am strapping my tent, or my sleeping mat, or even hockey equipment to the back of my bike, the strap tightens in on it with need it to be the perfect size, or wrapping it around and round again.

Lol I had a conversation with a friend a while ago about this.

It seems like the reason that you don't want to buy the straps is because the shipping price being 50% of the straps. Assuming that is true, the straps are approx $24 and shipping is around $12.
If you had never known the shipping price and the straps were listed as $37 but with FREE SHIPPING, would you be more inclined to buy it?

I bought my Rok Straps at Zellers in Center Point Mall. They were the ones with the hooks, not the loops. Can't remember how much, but they were definetly cheap 'cause I'm cheap.

Hmmm good question...I don't think I would've as then I'd look at other options...but you sure made me think and reflect on this...lol

Once you use ROK straps, you'll never go back. I got mine at Snow City.
