Fire Department bills me for nothing

Other guy acts like a ****** bag and you get the infraction that's ****ed up.

That happens all the time. I regularly get people throwing stupid comments about my profession and when I tell them they are being ***** I get banned.

The rule of the board is you can insult people's race, country, sex, religion, profession, but if you tell them to **** themselves when they do, thats an infraction.

What do you do?

If so then you shouldn't be charged a fee. If you did indeed need help doing those things then there should be a charge but what you got billed is a bit ridiculous. IMO

Why should there be a charge - an ACCIDENT occurred within the coverage of your emergency services - as with SAR - there should be no charge unless it's willful abuse. The FD is paid and funded to deal with incidents in the area - where the person is from is immaterial.

This is the fundamental problem and billing is wrong period where there is no abuse.

I don't think any reasonable person can read your post and interpret that as sincere. Maybe instead of blaming the web, you can simply express yourself better.

I'm unreasonable for sure then. I read his post like he was being really nice and sincere. I guess it's how you interpret the meaning.

Exactly.

Gambit covered this already. Whether you agree or not there is an apparent shortage of funding, so the only way to offset this is to charge people when possible. Not saying I agree with this, but that's the way it seems to be.

No it's not the only way to offset it - it may be one way but gouging people is certainly not a good way. Raising additional taxes and perhaps trimming some "benefits" - later retirement for instance are ways to reduce costs.
It's a slippery slope as now more and more assignments are sent out and charges made to be a money spinner for the local municipality.

SAR sets the standard - keep it that way instead of building resentment and losing support. Hell - there is nothing wrong with having fairs and fund raising campaigns for fire depts - cheesy calendars too :D

Agreed, there are better ways to go about it. I wouldn't be too thrilled if I was given a bill like that after being involved in an accident. Kind of makes me feel lucky that I rode away from the scene fairly quick after my accident.

I interpreted his post as sincere.

Some people are getting their panties in a knot over a non-insult.

you consider calling firefighters glorified IV bag holders who show up where they aren't needed to drum up calls to keep their jobs to be a sincere compliment?

I wonder if they will charge me for riding on roads out of my municipality

Sent from my tablet using my paws

Like I said in the first post, FD is great at what thy are trained to do. A city without a FD will fall apart. You boys do good work.
I'm always happy to see FD on a call. One less bag I have to carry, way less strain on the back carrying a fatty with 4-5 guys than two, stretchers all set up, someone to do compressions, someone to bag(once placements confirmed) someone to hold the IV bag, someone to help cut the pt out of the car, someone to secure the car so I don't get crushed by it. Etc etc etc.... All very much appreciated.

Re-reads above (because I'm assuming this is the contentious compliment) - looks good to me. I interpreted that he appreciates the above help when he gets it.

If you're looking for an argument, I'm sure you can interpret a statement however you want.

Rob Ford!! :-) He would like people who don't live in 416 to pay road tolls..so really, not that far from the truth! :-)

I believe Miller and council considered toll roads (specifically the DVP), but rejected the idea in favour of the PVT since it was cheaper to implement. It only applied to residents of Toronto. The MTO simply piggybacked it on plate sticker renewals, replete with legal threats. Too bad Ford didn't keep it to fund that sweet ferris wheel and monorail. What did we get instead? Permanent gridlock, smog and a skyline of ugly, ugly condos. Awesome.

Haha! I was mostly speaking tongue-in-cheek. I really don't know if Ford is advocating road tolls. It was more that politicians have considered charging "out of coders" fees to drive on roads. :-)
