Burlington- Loud bike ban

What about the super sport guy the rides in a straight line with the bike close to the rev limit. I hear them further away than Harleys and after they pass I hear them for a lot longer too. Besides that the Harley bankers are usually in bed early and the ss riders are out late making noise.

Edited because of stupid phone spellcheck.

Right on. As I've said before, straight-pipe cruisers and "performance" muffler supersports are merely different ages of the same breed of turkey. Now that other jurisdictions have enacted regulations to act as a template, more will follow suit in greater numbers. A few complaints and an eager councilor is all it will take. "LPSL" may prove to be true in one sense--if your bike is legislated off the road as a nuisance, getting injured on it won't be possible.

It will be in toronto soon and its because of all the stupid ****** tards like the dumbass mofo outside biermarket on saturday night at king west.

sitting outside enjoying the awesome night on a patio when the *** just turned on his bike and cranking it then off again. LIKE WTF dumbass!!

then you have the other stupid mofos ripping up and down the street, ppl live around there too.

King west is now becoming like richmond with a bunch or retards reving there bikes up and down the street. My buddy lives around there and they already have a petition going around to ban the noise and I for one don't blame him.

Loud is loud, whether it's a cruiser or a supersport. I live a stone's throw-away from Lakeshore near Port Credit, and late at night it's mainly the SS's I hear ripping down the street, and that sound carries a *long* way for quite some time after they pass.

That said, anyone who says it's for safety is full of it. People get loud pipes because they think it's badass, end of story. I have stock pipes, and wouldn't mind something a little deeper and throatier. But I definitely don't want loud as **** ********* pipes in order to be as obnoxious as possible.

I run stock pipes as well for a reason. Most people think I have an aftermarket exhaust on anyway. Since bought my bike brand new, the muffler has got some age to it so it gets louder over the years. You can still rev stock exhausts and can be heard.

Most sport bike owners replace their stock exhaust as their first mod, but over time the baffle wears out and and your muffler will get louder anyway.

Drives me nuts when people complain about noise downtown. Why the **** did you move downtown? Did you really expect peace and quiet?! Further from the core = less noise. It's really that simple.

BULL!

Theres reasonable and expected noise, and then theres DOUCHETARDS on Harleys with open pipes. Their bikes should be confiscated and crushed.

Sorry, but the suburbs have its fair share of **** heads on bikes too rolling out of their driveways to the timmys

So you think people move downtown and EXPECT to have tards with straight pipes or with baffles removed from their mufflers or with fart cans riding/driving by their building?? I couple of days ago I saw a cruiser going by on the street and the car alarms were going off. WTF??

Personally I'm all for it. My aftermarket Jardine on CBR will meet those standards without any problems. At the same time hopefully we will stop hearing bike screaming at 2 o'clock in the morning on 427 (and we live 2 km away from the highway).

not to mention the fact that we are sitting on the patio while some ****** is trying to start his bike for 10 minutes because he's been sitting there with the lights on. you are an old faquer on a harley you ain't getting any hoes dumbass.

Even downtown residents have a right to a reasonable level of noise. A goof revving a doochemobile of any kind is self-indulgent, antisocial behaviour.

are you 100% sure it was a harley?

people need to get over it...complaining about everything is just giving cops more reasons to act like nannys and ignoor the real crimes.
maybe they should look at putting more time into recovering the stolen bikes than issuing tickets to people who have legal ones.

just like the attempt at hand gun ban...really banning handguns from people who wait 6months to a year to buy their first pistol is going to affect the guy on the corner selling them with the seriel numbers grinded off..
which ones get used in crimes again? the one thats registered or the one that isnt?

fyi - i put v&h short shots on my harley, i thougt it may have been too loud so i asked a couple neighbours, the oldest one i asked shrugged and said "its a bike, not bothering me"
also, im under the 92db so i pass anyway.

with all the buildings around it echoes a lot more... and if you can't hear the person sitting next to you talk over an exhaust across the street, yea if it wasn't for a handgun ban i'd shoot the mofo.

meh, old man, big stupid cruiser, what's the difference?

i was at the ice house on sunday, i seen more old men on SS bikes then old men with cruisers. thought it looked odd when a fat 60yr old gets off a gsxr1000:confused:

I live a couple km from clapison corners and I can hear motorcycles roaring down hwy 6 all the time. I don't know much about exhausts but they are definitely harley's. I imagine the people living closer to hwy 6 and even hwy 5 are pretty piss*d about it and I can't say I blame them. They are much louder than even truck engine breaks.

how would you identify a harley?

there were about a half dozen or so harleys that left Crossroads in Rosseau just after 1pm on Saturday, and they were so incredibly loud that everyone in the restaurant was pretty annoyed. I couldn't talk to the person next to me and we had to have been a couple hundred feet from the road.

I'm with most of the posters in this thread. I like getting sleep and enjoying my yard without being bothered by excessive noise.

If you have a loud-ish bike, please at least keep the revs down so you don't bother everyone. There's noticeable, and then there's obnoxious. If you act respectfully with the noise - even with a loud bike - I bet you're less likely to get a ticket. The 'loud pipes save lives' crowd usually aren't the guys decked out in day-glo yellow with running lights! (Their patches are usually non-reflective...)

Ticket for obnoxious motorcyclist => large hefty fine => revenue generation for town => less taxation for me :)
