Wondering if anyone has expeience with mounting this camera. I have an outdoor version and not the auto sport. Wondering if anyone has used those adhesive mounts and if they stay on. If they are to be removed do they leave a big sticky mess. I see an handle bar bracket is available as an accesory on the gopro site. Just looking for some tips from the experienced before i go about rigging something up. thanks

Don't use the mounts. The video usually ends up shakey, and the suction mounts can fall off if not properly fastened. The $30 chest mounting strap is the best, results in the smoothest video and can't fall off by accident. It's available at futureshop.

I use the sticky mount on my helmet all the time. They have a curved and a flat mount. I use the curved on my helmet.

I have a ram mount for the back of the bike, and a ram mount on my stem.

I have read many horror stories about the suction mount, so if you use that, make sure to tether it somewhere, incase it falls.

A little simple green will remove any residue left by the adheisive.

Ive used the adhesive mounts on the side, top and tail of my track bike with zero issues.

I even used the suction cup on the tank, and never had an issue either .. to each their own i guess.

Sticky pads are good. Just be careful to choose the correct one for the location (curved or flat). I have them on my track bike and they've never failed. They're easy to remove and I've never seen one to leave a mess. I've never lost paint when taking them off either. Although I suppose it depends on how good your paint job is.

Never used the suction cup. I laos have a roll bar mount which I use around one of my frame sliders for low down shots.

I've never used the adhesive mounts but I do use the suction mount almost exclusively. I find it really convenient to pop on and off the bike when I want to reposition it during rest stops. I used to tether it with braided fishing line as a safety precaution but lately I haven't bothered. It sticks and it stays. I watched a video on youtube of a stunt plane that had the gopro suction mounted to the wing with no problems.

i lost mine while mounted with a suction cup. It was mounted on the flat surface right above signal light on a 2010 gsxr 600.

anyone know at what speed the sticky mounts will hold up too? or does anyone have horror story while using them?

They really scared me, but they've held up on my MX helmet and full face. Actually while on a trail today a branch actually pulled my head back because it caught on the camera. I then went around 100 on the road then more trail and light branches. That thing never came loose.

I made this with a broken mirror mount i found on Kijiji

IMG-20120812-00582.jpg Have pretty good adjustability
IMG-20120812-00583.jpg I will be trying a Rubber washer to try to eliminate some of the vibration

Make sure sticky pad has good full contact - I lost mine last week somewhere in the PA twisties. It was mounted to sticky pad on the givi top case. And givi's surface is not smooth. And I was stupid and forgot to attach safety leash. I think if it was normal glossy plastic it would be OK

And make sure to clean the area with rubbing alcohol to ensure the glue makes full contact to the surface.

thanks for all the input, put the sticky pads to the test today an though i havnt used the sucktion cups ill keep my faith in the sticky pads, they can hold up in high speeds no doubt,,.

I'll be defintely buying another gopro but even with sticky pads will be using safety leash. Make it short enough so if camera drops it won't hit drivetrain or wheels. My mount on the case felt very solid and yet - twisties did it's job and some lucky dude will find my cam one day somewhere in PA.

make sure you clean the area properly

I use the curved mounts on my helmet, and highway speeds doesnt seem to be doing anything to the adhesive, seems to be holding up well, not really worrying about the adhesive mount, i would however be worried about the suction cup mount, maybe attach it to your bike with some fishing wire? id feel safer doing that.

I use the adhesive mount on my helmet and it's been good. I prefer to use the roll bar mount though. I mount it on my fork and position it beside my headlight. It gets a little shaky there though due to blown fork seals. :(
