mountain biking near hamilton?

Mine is 40lbs. I dont mind. I only notice when I hope on someone's hardtail and it's 10+lbs lighter lol.

Well..you never really know what other people are thinking. Everyone is different..different opinions. It's just like comparing horsepower or tires on motorcycles. Whatever works for you is all that counts. My hardtail now is about 26lbs which is freaking awesome to me!! :-) My brother thinks that any bike over 16lbs is a waste of money..haha! The important thing, to me, is that it's reliable and let's you do whatever you're wanting to do..downhill..freeride..xc..whatever. It's just a hammer..use it as such! :-)

Remember my squeaky brakes and my hypothesis that it was made worse by flexy seat stays?? Check out this new caliper mounting from Trek..

Only place I could find it local was at Goodlife, and you have to pay a MT to apply it. They wouldn't just sell me the tape.

Goodlife = Premier minus the smarmy CEO.

Sounds like they were feeding you a line of BS. Spidertech is giving away samples through their site, so I'd take what the guys at Goodlife tried to feed you with a block of salt.

I will get some online freebies.

I only thought of it a few days before leaving for G'hurst so I needed something local. It could be GL policy? Who knows?

What's everyone wearing for protection?

I bought elbow, knee, shin pads from G-Form last year and they are awesome. Just bought the crash shorts and compression shirt... With everything on I look like I was in the movie Tron but man is it comfortable. As for protection, its saved me a few times on the bike but also skating as well. They make a similar material in my Klim moto gear as well. It's soft and very flexible and hardens on impact. I haven't had to test the Klim padding fortunately and hope I never have to...

I don't wear anything except a helmet when required by the location. All that padding is just too hot..

Good ride today. Unfortunately we couldn't get the rookie to hurt himself. He did at least manage to pop a tire to entertain us.

You're kidding, right? How long have you known me?

FF was Riding With The Tool Fairies. Here's a tube. Here's a pump. Don't start till I get my camera out.

We got him going again, AFTER the obligatory ribbing, of course. It was good times. A bit hot after yesterday's imbibing, but not too bad. FF had fun despite the mechanical.

lol havent had a chance to check this thread since i've had to go back to work :(. I mean seriously, what are the odds i'm going to pop a tire my first time riding a bike in 10 years. DOH, seems spares are important with all sorts of 2 wheeling. Next time i come out i'll have some knee/elbow guards and flat pedals and i'm pretty sure i'll be faster then both newman and FMJ, well right up until i go flying off the trail at the bottom of the hill at least. That being said i may be slow, but i make up for it with how often i break down. Wait that doesn't work at all....

****, I wish I had seen this thread before. I would have come out with yous fellas.

Seriously. It really is a big loss because we're never going riding again. Wait a minute, what about this weekend? shoot me a pm with your number and i'd be down for a ride any time this weekend, i'm sure FMJ is game too if he doesn't have cooler people to ride with.

100%? Is there a prize? I like prizes.

I think I'm free on the weekend. Keep an eye on the weather.

Actually is all pretty light and very breathable since it's spandex material. No heavier than bike shorts but well worth the extra protection. I don't wear it all the time and gauge the location and how much I'm going to push it. Definitely a helmet and gloves. I think I'm going to trade the ****** road helmet this year for something more substantial.

Yeah, just happened to be on vacation this last two weeks and I'm taking the wife and kids to Sauble beach for the weekend. I'll keep an eye on this thread for future rides though.
