So you are saying that you believe our licencing testing standards/requirements that we have right now currently are adequate?

Well I didn't say that, now did I? ;)

The truth is that we have no idea if they're adequate, as we completely fail at hold drivers accountable for what they are supposed to know and do. We just nail them for excessive speed, in the vast majority of cases, and ignore other legal obligations.

In comparison to what? They are deffenitly more difficult than those in the US to include California where filtering/splitting is allowed and done safely.

Do u spend any time riding in the gta?

Quite frankly what the states does is immaterial, half the states don't even have helmet laws.

Yes I have been riding in the GTA over the last couple months, and in the past I have been through in automobiles.

What does a helmet law have to do with lane filtering?

I always wear a helmet, jacket gloves etc. even in states that dont require it, but out of principal I am against helmet laws.

Have you been riding in NYC or the DC Beltway? Now that is even worse than Toronto! :sad1:

According to recent studies, the Toronto area has traffic that is even worse than L.A., which was previously acknowledged to have been the worst on the continent.

In what respect though? Congestion or how the other drivers react? (road rage etc)

New York City drivers have no regard for other road users!

I agree the congestion especially during the peak times in Toronto is Horrible and worse when in a Tractor Trailer (Been there as well)

Sorry how can you have a serious discussion regarding licencing, when your country takes such a lackadaisical stance towards Motorcyclist's and their safety in general.

The Country does not take lackadaisical stance, The riders do. Most states have manditory required training to become licensed. But there is also rights and freedoms. Although many here would like it to be a socialist country it still is not. I can still speak my mind, carry a gun, and ride without a helmet if I choose. (I choose to wear one) I also choose to have guns and use them and I choose to Vote and try to make a difference.

On that note I also teach all levels of motorcycle operation from basic to track as I want to make a difference unlike many here (In the states) who sit around and complain and do nothing.

I don't know whether that was a jab at me, but i had the pleasure of teaching folks to ride for a couple of years.

You can teach your pants off to you are blue in the face, but you still have the root problem.

Ease of obtaining a licence.

No was not a jab in any way, just trying to answer your question. And I have noticed many times when training is manditory riders just ride with no license like the guy arrested there for doing 299km/h

This I like.

Thanks Vic..but it sure is an uphill battle to get that message across. The low speed is key, yet its safety AND perception to other road users aspect, is ignored by the naysayers. I could understand the negativity on a car forum, but on a bike forum... it boggles the mind. I believe that some of the more ridiculous posts are from someone who doesn't even ride, but love to stir crap up.

I don't believe it's level of comprehension to blame here - it's something else... and I'm giving up on trying to figure it out.

Hey Outlaw, what is your view on the healthcare reform aka Obamacare?

LOL, Not a fan. Also not a fan of many social programs, Some of them yes, But this is not the topic for this thread. The fins already determined that Long term unemployment does not work, yet we here keep extending it noy learning from others.

Look at our Social Security program that I have paid into all my life that will not exist when I am old enough to collect so I am making my own plans for the future.

Lets get back on topic and make this a new thread in the correct forum.
