Not a all. If there was a self-checkout line at LCBO, then that would be equal to HOV lane. Get it?
When someone uses self-checkout, folks that choose to wait in cashier line have no reason to be mad at someone checking out faster...
I can't believe I have to explain some of these things...

Do ppl prefer the biker pass out int he middle of the hwy? What would that do to traffic?

lol, you know, for some reason I have a hard time believing that those guys filtering through traffic jams or riding the shoulder are in the middle of having a "medical emergency"
pretty sure any one with a medical condition as bad as you're citing would be travelling with insulin or water on them in extreme heat instances... or arranging for alternative transportation that wouldn't involve them breaking the law in the event of a traffic situation

It matters not. It's 50 degrees+ for them on the bike. It's in the best interest for everyone for them to get off the stopped HIGHWAY.
It is their bike, their insurance, their license, their money.
Terrible analogy. Filtering doesn't slow others down. In fact, lots of bikes filtering speed things up for cars.
Relative to what? Selfish folk in cars who are annoyed that they're in traffic? Who don't realize that filtering reduces congestion? Filtering is common on Japan and Korea; they aren't civilized?
Filtering is not common in most states of the US...are they not civ.......oh wait. You're right.

I'm saying that civilized is relative and this is an example of something that's not clear cut.

The OP had no point - merely a complaint and an unusual aversion to independent thought. God forbid we should think progressively.
And again - I make no distinction; car or bike. Also, you are only thinking in terms of filtering, and forgetting passing on the shoulder part.
If few bikes do it, why shouldn't some cars do it too... If I rip my car's a/c out and disconnect radiator fan, does that give me the right to pass all the dumb folks stuck in traffic, and cruise down emergency lane, all the way home?
If you're in your car, and there's an accident up ahead, just happened... You're stuck in center lane. Meanwhile, there's a steady stream of cars slowly driving down the emergency lane... do you not see how they are making it worse for everyone? And for no other reason but because they feel they are more important/smart/tough (whatever) than everyone else, including you. How can you not see anti-social aspect of this behaviour?
In our current highway act, there's no difference between bikes and cars in regards to this behaviour/infraction. In our current society, there's no difference. You are no better doing that on your bike or in your cage. Japan and Korea? Really...
They also drive on the left in Japan, and that, just like filtering, has nothing to do with their civility.
Then such a person should pull over to the side, in the breakdown lane, and use it for the intended purpose; stopping in a relatively safe location. Continuing on, while experiencing some sort of medical emergency, is foolish and dangerous.
But I would posit that this was nothing of the sort but rather just people who selfishly wanted to proceed at a speed greater than that of the surrounding traffic, while abusing a portion of the road that is meant for emergency use only. This isn't about lane splitting nor filtering, but rather about using a portion of the highway that is intended for emergency use only, for a purpose for which it is not intended.
I'm discussing filtering, not riding on the shoulder.
But even on the shoulder, are you aware that a motorcycle is actually smaller than a car? A bike can maneuver easily out of the way. Cars can't.

with the justifications on this forum, we should just rename the shoulder to diarrhea lane and I can drive on it in my car too.
