Girls, when you dropped your bike, who helped you lift it up?

I'm a super novice rider and today is the first day that I took my ninja 250 out for a ride after I passed the M1 exit last weekend.

Don't laugh at me- I only rode around the neighbourhood, and dropped it once at 0 speed. I know that "everyone drops their bikes", so it doesn't bother me that much. What bothers me the most is that it's kinda impossible for a girl to lift it back up by herself. A girl who was passing by was kind enough to help me and to be honest it wasn't easy for us.

My question to all the female riders is, have you ever dropped your bike, either just in the neighbourhood/parking lot or out on the road; and if so, who was helping you lift it up?

Thanks in advance for your stories/experiences and advices.

Dozens of videos on this from YouTube (feel free to click through them to get a better understanding i.e. easier to see it in action, then write it down here for ya):

i dropped my 250 two or three times last year. it was always while i was walking it off my steep driveway. i lived in a small neighborhood so i always waited around until a random car passes by and someone always stops and ask if i'm okay lol, then some big guy will come out and lift it no problem. it's pretty embarrassing but you get away with it as a girl. i always thought the adrenaline would give me the added strength but i can't pick it up no matter how hard i try.

i started watching youtube videos with techniques on how to pick up your bike, and apparently anyone should be able to pick up any bike with the proper technique but i still can't, and i'm pretty strong for a 5'2, 105 lb girl cuz i started working out after that lol. the technique would look pretty silly if you happen to drop it in the middle of traffic and no one decides to help you... haha never happened to me, hope that never happens to you too.

i upgraded to a 600 this year so i try to be very careful not to drop it cuz i ride solo. in a way it's good to have the experience of dropping it so you know how to avoid it.

I have dropped mine a couple times now I am embarrassed to admit. First time was in very loose gravel and I had to call my dad to come and help me pick it up because it would have slid in the gravel if I attempted it myself. Since then I have just grabbed it and picked it up all on my own. It's not easy but with the adrenaline pumping it's doable. My bike is something like 400lb dry I believe. I didn't use the sit on it technique just because I didn't need to but it looks like a good way to go about it.

Lesson for the ladies. Buy Ducati's. They are lighter to lift :D

Thanks a lot tna:).

Ya I hope I would never drop my bike in the traffic.

Everytime I dropped the bike (a few times in the riding school and once today), I was on the bike and what happened was that the bike tilted to the side and my either leg couldn't hold it up. I'm 100lbs but my personal trainer said I have very strong legs comparing to my size. So I guess there's just something wrong with my technique.

Great video thanks for sharing

I don't think you get much of an adrenaline rush after dropping it at less than 5kph...more like "I'm such a dumbass" rush...

ive dropped it.. ive lifted it... ive dropped it.. ive had help.. both times at zero ... boo on me

Go to the gym. Lift up your own bike. Whose going to save you if you're alone and you drop your bike? You can only count on yourself. I have an R1 and I have laid it down before. No one was there to help me. I lost balance one morning backing out of my driveway when my cat darted out from under my truck. Bike just leaned to the point of no return and I had to put it down. At 5 am, no one was there. Adrenaline is a powerful thing. I am only 130lbs, 5'6 and female. No excuse ladies. You can do it!

I picked up my bike myself for the first time last weekend... tipped her over doing 0 (slid on grass) and with no one around ended up attempting it myself after a sleepless night on a scorchingly hot day. It took all the strength I had, had to use my leg to hold it up to be able to get it completely upright. I could feel it in my legs for days afterwards but it gave me a lot of confidence to know that if I went down by myself again someday, I can lift her on my own.

I'm going to invent an ipod/android app where if a girl drops her bike, she hits the button on her phone, it scans her, and if she passes certain prettiness criteria built into the app, and it says she is single... it sends me her pic and location, and i zoom over and lift it up for her.. ;)

The Same app works both ways. Guys need to be scanned first in order to show the girl's location. If he passes certain criteria and is single, the location would show. Otherwise, too bad boy, I don't need your help lol!
