Fz6

The steering head bearings are known to fail prematurely.

Most FZ6 would have their steering head bearings replaced with All-Ballz bearings, which should outlast the bike.

OP, what's the details of the FZ6 you're looking at? I used to have an 05 FZ6, might be mine :) If it is, I'd be able to tell you a whole bunch about it.

I had an 08 and rode an 05 ... you should get an 07+ model ... they have better brakes in front (4 piston monobloc vs 2 piston slide pin), also updated guages and fairing ...

That's the first thing that came to mind... Mine are actually making a little clunk when I come to a full stop so I gotta do that... some day.

You should watch out for how awesome these bikes look w/ the right mods.
Nice looker, but someone has to spend a bit of love with some wet sanding and polish on those headers!

while these are a great looking bike, if it's like the Fazer 8 they channel a lot of heat into the crotch area. Nice for keeping the boys warm in the cooler months, but very very bad in this kind of weather.

I don't notice the jewels getting warm at all... However when I filled my tank today, the cold fuel was oh so nice when it chilled the tank!

that was the one of 2 complaints i had with a fazer 8 i demoed. roasted chestnuts, and the suspension was too soft for my liking. with no adjustments on the forks, you'd have to do a ton of work to get it to behave better. maybe the fz8 being nekkid is better in the heat department...

The 07 and up bikes don't suffer from premature head bearing wear. I just so happen to be selling my 07 fz6. Pm me for details if you want.

Yep, the soft front suspension on my FZ6 bothers me now that I'm getting more and more comfortable with cornering hard... But lots have done R6 swaps!

Racetech springs for about $100 and 1 hour of my time fixed that at the time :)

07 plus FZ6 had ecu update as the previous ones had poor low and midrange rpm response
torque down low was not great in the previous models

I just flushed my forks and put 15W in - figured I'll try 15 bucks fix before forking out for springs. Night and day - more then enough for my riding style, diving is gone, bike is much more planted

Is that the one that was stored at Heritage? Whenever is was there, I was like "daayyyyummm".

Pretty good and cheap mod. I went back to faired and actually will be adding full fairing next week - just like in pic below only my fairings will be black:

yeah man - look what 30 min+elbow grease+autosol+1500 grit sandpaper can do for your header:
