I am shocked to say the least.

Bought these no cut frame sliders from SnowCity Cycle

I believe they are marketed as Parts Canada sliders (The only no-cut sliders for the 08+ 1000RR Fireblade at the time)


Yesterday as I was cleaning the bike, I noticed the slider is missing, broke off!
I don't recall dropping the bike

I look on the other side of the bike, and see a that the bracket that holds the slider has a crack in it, also about to fall off!!

And these things are supposed to support the weight of the bike when it falls???!?


Going to SnowCity tomorrow, I hope for their sake they don't give me ******** excuses.



I have NEVER seen anything like this.

Always knew No-cut sliders are useless, but didn't feel like drilling into fairings. Lesson learned.

that seems like a really thin bracket and poor design. I have no cut sliders and they have been tested and they work great. Mind you my motivation sliders were about $140

Yes, garbage quality, and they charged me $149 + tax for them too.
 
It's kinda well known that no-cut frame sliders do more damage than good, but these ones are even better - they fall off on their own.

You don't recall dropping the bike??? Maybe someone in your household isn't telling you something! These things don't magically snap off bikes! And you're gonna complain? HAHAHAHHAHAHA! PLEASE, for the love of God record the conversation!

Majority of no-cut frame sliders are garbage and can cause serious problems if used.
I remember a guy on my other forum who's bike tipped over in his driveway at no speed and the no-cut caused serious engine damage.

A frame slider is only as strong as what it is connected to, So I would rather have mine directly to the frame then a bracket.

considering both are broken in the same spot, i cast my vote for manufacturing/design error, not having been dropped. i had a similar problem with a cast aluminum (stock) peg bracked. it had bubbles in it when it broke off, kawi replaced it all for free.


a properly installed set of "cut" sliders look better than no-cuts anyway.
 
very bad design. I have used no cut sliders on various bikes. R&G make decent ones, but can be very pricey. I think one set cost close to $400. They may protect from driveway spills, but not at speed. I've had to have them imported in from Europe.

A slider may not protect the bike from getting scratched etc on a fall, but may help with protecting more damage to the shifter/pegs and keep the bike somewhat ridable after an incident.
 
There *are* some good no-cut designs, most of them coming from R&G Racing. That design is completely useless though. Is that bracket aluminum?! I can see why it snapped - thin metal that sits too close to one part of the frame, so the other part of the frame is constantly levering against it. The regular vibration from the bike is what developed the fracture. Probably for the best, as it would have done *nothing* in a fall.

It was a joke, Of course the bike was not dropped. And yes, I also thought that things don't just magically snap off, but I was wrong. Fact is, the left side fell off, and the right side is about to fall off. The crack is all the way through the bracket, If I put any pressure on the slider, it will break off.



The bracket that is securing the slider to the frame was very hot to touch. I suspect the heat had a lot to do with the aluminum failing.

Thank you. This is what I thought. The constant heat/cold cycle (the bracket was scorching hot to touch!) and the levering of the bracket against the frame, as well as vibrations from the bike cause the almuminum to collapse and crack.
 
My frame sliders have held up pretty well... They are the Lightning brand ones.

I was hoping to get a little more for the $150 + tax I was charged. They haven't even touched ground, now, clearly, frame sliders are designed to take *some* abuse, these things just collapsed from heat and wind.
 
I got OES cut frame sliders for about $60. Very good price compared to others and very solid. I was initially leaning towards no-cuts because I didn't want to cut my beutiful fairing, but once it's installed, it looks like it came out of factory.
 
I dont like the no cut sliders either. I went down with a set and the one that contacted the ground snapped right off halfway thru the slide. Turns out the sliders I had were held on by fairing bolts, not the big industrial sized bolts you see on rear spools. Im trying to find a set of real sliders, but where you would custom mount the left side of my bike i got the coolant resovoir smack in the center of where the slider should go, unsure what to do at this point. I feel your pain OP, but it sounds like you may have to eat the costs on this one.

something like that... but I don't get it, what the **** is the big deal with cutting your fairings? Oh heres a good idea, "I don't wanna cut my pretty fairings, so I'll put these **** slider on and cry when I have to replace fairings after one fall" ****in darwin theory at work

Yeah.... I have the R&G Racing no-cut sliders on my 600rr.... Never a problem
With them. Look great (tear drop shape).
