So.... You're saying they should put the bike in the car and speed off 180km/h+? Isn't the point not to attract attention?
Also why would they go through that trouble when they can lift it and be gone in 30 secs and do whatever they want with no worries afterwards?

So whats more noticable, A quiet van that is gone in less then 30 seconds with no sign of a stolen vehicle or sitting there re-wiring an ignition and then riding around on a stolen motorcycle that is an attention grabber?

Obviously hes trying to buy us more time to catch the thieves by giving thieves tips to sit and fiddle with the bike for a little while longer.
 
Sorry to the OP but it forced me to buy a chain lock and as a board member of my condo i am petitioning to the other board member to allow owners with bikes to be granted the right to professionally install anchors to lock up their bikes.

And i'm sure he called the police and made a report otherwise the insurance company won't touch it.

Great idea on trying to convince your board members to install anchors, as chains do nothing, unless it's those super-heavy $300+ ones.

Got my chain at MEC for $35 and its pretty stout, and i have it hooked up so that it is difficult to get any kind of cutting tool near it. Hopefully it's enough.

The point is to get the bike to a secure location where it can be stripped. An automobile is more easily detectable by police and less capable of outrunning them. If the owner has lojack on the bike it's gonna be a bad night for mom's minivan and everyone in it.

Listen guys, none of this is new but clearly everyone here is an expert already so I'll leave you all to your expert opinions. OP, I hope you had theft insurance on your bike and if not, get it on the next one. You can be sure that the thieves'll be back in a few weeks scoping for your replacement.

Gixxer, no clue - but you need to import 'em from U.K. last I heard (don't quote me on this, 'cause maybe there's vendors in Canada who do have 'em now). Couple that chain with an Abloy lock (from Australia), and you have a chain and lock system that is as near bullet proof as you can get (but be warned, after exchange, duties, etc. the last time I priced this out it was in or around ~$500).

I remember seeing a review on this combo a while back (1+ years ago) in which it took several professional ex-thieves (under pre-arranged common scenarios e.g. underground parking in a condo) minutes (versus seconds) before they gave up (in whch they admitted that the combination could be beaten, but they'd have to have access to a plasma cutter and other tools the common thief wouldn't be carrying around).

Remember, nothing is 100% (i.e. without a good anchoring system for this combination, thieves just pick your bike up and will cut that stuff off at their liesure somewhere else), but this combination makes punks like the one in the vid move on to find more vulnerable bikes (or it they're stupid enough to try, it increases the chance that perhaps their stubborness leads to their downfall).

A minivan with tinted windows is the most ubiquitous vehicle on the road. You can load a bike in the back and the go park it and grab lunch if you wanted to. No one is ever going to question a caravan driving normally. If the point is to get it to a secure location I'm using the van. And do you really think that anyone, ANYONE, stealing a bike isn't going to deal with gps tracking. They've got it dismantled before the driver is even out of the garage. EVERY tape of a bike that I've seen stolen is loaded in the back of a van. Every damn one.

I'm just trying to understand what you're saying here as you're questioning our intellect on how to steal bikes. It looks to me you're trying to be the expert in trying to steal bikes and look like the retard here.

Just wondering, what kind of vehicle do you think would be more suitable for this job since you seem to be such an expert anyways?

He thinks that real pros are also expert riders. They Hotwire the bike and peel out doing 200kph while being chased by helicopters and dodging explosions. Basically 'real' bike thieves are Bruce Willis. lol

You do realize that a Lojack system can be easily beaten by a casual search on ebay for jammers... Just so I can aid your career as a successful criminal, taken directly from the Wiki: "Vehicle tracking systems are potentially vulnerable to jamming attacks since the device must transmit incident messages to a receiver or telecommunications network. Inexpensive handheld jammers have ranges around 5m, larger jammers can disrupt communication devices within a 200m radius. Also I don't think it would be a smart idea to get another bike until you move out. The clowns will be back to see what you've got next.
