Sena SMH10! Get on ADVrider and PM Rocketmoto for a price. That's where I got mine and so far I haven't seen anyone that sells for anywhere close to what Adam does. Had them ship it to a US address just across the border, if you don't have one, you can easily find one by searching online or try kinek.com. I picked it up on the way back from a few days in the states so no tax. Done! Buy a few things this way and never a problem.
.

yeah, RocketMoto are excellent to deal with

When you guys use these are any of you wearing earplugs? I can't ride comfortably without them as the wind off my screen hits my helmet on te chin... I've wanted a set of these for the wife and I but worry I can't hear them through the plugs.... Plugs are also more important than talking while riding so they stay no matter what!!

yep, no problem with ear plugs at 100kph with the sena smh10

SMH5 love it! I do have some minor gripes which are mentioned in the little review I posted but overall a fantastic unit. Price and size were the two biggest factors that made me choose the 5 over the 10. In response to some of the above posts:

VOX... I knew the SMH5 didn't support it but when I looked in the manual there was something about VOX mentioned there. I'll have to look again.

Earplugs... I do wear them sometimes and it works well with this unit.

Speakers... decent sound quality, plenty of volume, lacking in bass. I believe the SMH10 has better speakers.

Intercom... no conference mode on the 5, only one-on-one, so you have to specify which person you want to chat with.

Purchased from Cyclebots for $207 shipped to Toronto using coupon code: "advrider". Delivered via USPS but still got hit with ~$35 duty at my door. Total out of pocket ~$240.

I always wear earlpugs and like I mentioned before, had to make sure to turn off sound check and the EQ to increase the volume from my iPhone. Before this I found the streaming volume low and actually even now there are certain albums or songs that are lower in volume than others. The welcome, media connected volume is just fine, so I suspect the intercom volume will be fine.

Oh and I went with the Senas because of price, paid just a bit more than AF4iK for the dual SMH10's and also because of ease of use; 1 jog dial and 1 button. Done!

I think I found the thread:

As I don't have an account there (yet), and am still fence-sitting, any chance you could either post what you paid or if that is 'breaking the rules on advrider, could you pm it to me? Also if you bought a single or dual pack, as I might be spitting a dual with a friend.

Although price doesn't really matter (I just want the best unit/brand out there), it does factor into the final decision and also where to buy from.

Yup that's the one. PM sent.

Thanks again -- PM'ed them on ADVrider, and called them today to place the order (dual set of SMH10s I'm splitting with a friend). Given the price difference, and the fact that there's a fairly close split between brands (and most people have neither/nothing) it was too good a deal to turn down vs the G9s.

One question though for those who do have a Sena -- If I wanted to connect my Nuvi using a stereo (3.5mm) to A2DP BlueTooth adapter do any/all brands work? I noticed GP has a Chatterbox unit for sale, but I'm not sure if it would only pair with Chatterbox units (might have to take advantage of their return policy and just try it and see).

Not sure about the chatterbox - it maybe proprietary connection to the chatterbox headset only.

Try eBay, I saw a ton of cheap BT transmitters there.

Welcome to the Sena club!

Here comes a stupid question... Yesterday I found out that the guy I usually ride with bought a Scala. I am planning to buy a Sena. I guess there is no way to pair a Scala with a Sena. Or is there? Any thoughts?

Nope. Sorry .

There is but it isn't ideal lol -- Both devices can pair to a cellphone, so as long as you have free evenings and weekends, and are not leaving your calling zone, you can just call each other and connect that way. Only other way I can think of is if the Scala also has an aux in jack you could use FRMS radios if you have them.

My SMH10 arrived yesterday. I got hit for GST and handling= $44. It was still a good deal from RocketMoto. My RF1100 install went well, as with my wifes Qwest. I will find out this weekend how well it works with some distance between us.

Typically I can get about 2, maybe 3 lights away before I can't understand a word, but obviously it improves as you close the distance. Audio quality is great to me (and people don't complain about noise on their end), so overall I think the Sena is a winner.

2 of my SENA SMH-10 have broken pins and not working properly anymore :( I suspect its poor quality design when taking on and off the unit, the pins tend to get bent.
