Buy Scala G4 or wait for G9?

Which would you get?

I'm currently looking into getting a comm unit for my helmet, and it seems (from reading) more people use Scalas than the competitors, therefore I'm essentially looking at getting either a Scala G4 or a new G9 when it comes out.

With that said, and the fact that Royal currently has a sale on the G4s (as does GP Bikes), would you wait for the G9, or just go buy a G4? As I'm looking at the powerset (2 units) to split with a friend, it seems the difference in cost might only be $50-60 more each (for the G9), so if it is a better unit I don't mind waiting and paying.
 
i have the g4 and it works pretty good. I wanna get the g9 cause i wanna hold more than 2 pairs at once.

sometimes pairing can be tempermental process with these scala's.

i would say wait for the g9.

Excellent high quality product for $100 less than Scala. I'm not to concerned with talking with other riders in a group as I am with my passenger, but these units have a 1 mile range for bike to bike comm. I would persuade any new groups to get this unit anyway as it will communicate with up to 4 other units at the same time.
 
Ditto - sena is the easiest to use by far

I've looked at the Sena, but I also want to be able to link up with others, so the Scala seems the better choice. The Scala also works with older units, which I liked as well.

Also, I'd be more tempted to wait if I knew the G9 had full voice control -- meaning I could say 'volume up', 'volume down', 'answer call', 'next track', etc...as anything that keeps hands on the handlebars is a good thing.
 
I'd personally recommend the Sena SMH-10. I've been using it for a couple years now, absolutely zero complaints.

Not sure about Scala, but the SMH-10 is firmware updatable.

Jog dial works great with the thickest of gloves.

Only quibble I've had is the mounting clamp for earbuds is rather flimsy and broke at the jack.

Sena SMH-10 gets my vote. Couple years with no problems. Firmware upgrades are great, we just did a ride with 3 people linked. Durable, I had a slow speed lowside on cold tires in early March. The Sena took the hit saving my helmet. A few scratches on the jog dail, but nothing cracked and everything still works fine.
 
Scala just looks old. It's the safe bet and many retailers don't venture from what their customers are already ingrained to ask for.
I have a pair of original SMH-10's
One of the sets took a total hosing on the ground when I don't know how much water or for how long from a holding tank at a fishing tournament was running over my helmet and jacket. It worked for about an hour, then I shut it off and hours later the little phone button felt mushy and I couldn't power up.
A week later I was packing it for a warranty RMA back to Sena and I tried it just for kicks. Fired up and has been working fine ever since. Just needed to dry out I suppose. But geez did my helmet stink of fish on that ride home LOL.
I have a single SMH-10 version B still in the carton, not knowing if I should use it or lose it. Only have one head and ride alone 95% of the time.
