Hey guys,
Quick question...I need to transport my gf's gear to her place on the bike as she forgot it at my place...how do you transport a second helmet? I've got a backpack where I'm putting in her jacket and gloves, but what about the helmet? Strap it onto the backpack?

most bikes have a hook under the passenger seat. Remove the seat, find the hook, put one of the metal rings of your helmet straps on the hook and lock the seat back into place with the helmet strapped to the hook

Drive to GF house, do her and then go riding

That hook is not for transporting helmets, it's really meant to be used in the parking. Just get a net, attach it to those hooks - it will hold the helmet on your back seat nice and secure.

Great advice!!!

Put it in a Food City bag, loop it over your wrist and go!

ok, I will go back the 20 years I have been doing that and stop doing it

Great advice!!!
Anything involving doing the GF and going riding can not be bad advice, now get back to work missy ;-)

Simple solution:

The man takes the girlfriend across first, leaving the helmet and backpack together on the other side.

He returns and gets the helmet, but when he deposits the helmet on the other side, he takes the girlfriend BACK across, so that the helmet and girlfriend aren't left alone together.

He drops the girlfriend off back on the other side, picks up the backpack, and takes it across to deposit with the helmet.

Finally, he returns to retrieve the girlfriend and takes it to the other side.

At no time were the helmet and girlfriend left alone together, nor were the girlfriend and backpack.
At no time was more than one of them in the bike with the man simultaneously.

hook under passenger seat.

I just my bungee net. Fold the jacket up best you can, throw the gloves inside the helmet with the visor down and strap it down with my net.
That's how I bring gear for the girls I take out on dates... So usually it's bang after instead of bang before. I have no swag, so I'm pretty sure the under tail exhaust must send some vibrations up the seat so by the time the date is "over" they are ready for some attention lol.

Thanks guys! I needed a good chuckle at work today so thanks for that! I'd use the hook under the seat but I'm worried about the other strap getting loose and finding it's way somewhere it shouldn't!
As for the net...it's a thing I should've thought of getting sooner! LoL I'll try and find one this weekend at CT.

back in the days we just stick our arms through the helmet and rest it against our elbows... works as long as you don't fall and looking back I don't recommend this to anyone now. but that's what we did back then..

Your options are:

1. Slide it over your arm. Works okay although its a bit awkward. If you get hit or fall off say goodbye to your arm.

2. Use lock on bike. Can work okay. Can be a disaster. Depends on the bike and the helmet. I've seen them battered to hell by the rear wheel or melted on the exhaust by doing this.

3. Bungee net on the back seat or to the backback. That's what I do. Never had a problem and not too much can go wrong.

And remember, safety first - double bag it.

Get a bungee for the future, its simple, cheap and easy.

If you have a back pack, I would use that for now. I would not be slinging things over the handlebars or anything else that would impede how I ride.

nice

bungee net or elbow.

hooked to the helmet lock bounces it around too much.
...could damage bodywork
...maybe extra wear on the strap over the long term?

IF ALL ELSE FAILS!!! which i highly doubt... just strap your second helmet onto your grab bars behind you dude... cmon easy as pie!

Put your backpack faced down on the passenger seat, bungee net the backpack then use the straps of the backpack to strap down the helmet on top of the backpack, then it can bounce all it wants while cushioned by the backpack.
