Thoughts and feed back on a 2000 Honda RC 51

i haven't read the other replies but i will say that Sp1's NEED to be setup properly before they can be ridden with any confidence around corners.

Any suspension adjustments make a HUGE difference and need to be taylored to the individual rider.

I once knew a wicked-cool dude with PORNO PIPES on his RC51!!!!

You are supposed to post the obligatory 11 o'clock wheelie picture that goes along with those.

... and PS. I didn't actually like the pipes that were on the bike. The first thing I wanted to do was to change those out. I'm going to actually check to see if that happy face is still there, it would be pretty rad if it still existed after all these years. I think that was today that Stevan actually first got it up.

Quick Updated I just went looked at the bike....

I was told bike was in mint shape and I get there and you can tell bike was dropped on right side couple scuffs on tank and right fairing (no bid deal in my eyes). I asked him not to start it I wanted to see the bike start cold( didn't want any surprise) ... bike fired nicely with no problem and sounds SWEET with the Two Brother carbon fiber exhaust …. I noticed left fork seal was blown also, I asked him if I could site on the bike just so I can feel how it shift into gear, Guy says no problem take it for a ride up the street you dumb it you own it, no big deal I had the cash...... I gotta say wow nice ride, I find it heavy but it was tight … Guy says to me $3500.00 its yours. I said let me look into how much to change fork seal first.....

what do you guys think? Too much? Fork seals hard to do on this bike?
just walk away ??

if you want the bike, then get it if it has no issues.

forks are easy... if you're going to do just one fork, it'll probably cost around $120-150 if you take it off yourself.

if i were you, i would do both forks at the same time... change the fluid, bushings and seals. max it's going to cost you is $300 if you take the forks off yourself, which is pretty easy.
take the wheel and front fender off. unbolt the brake calipers. Might have to take off the front cowl, loosen lower triple, clip ons and upper tripple and the fork slides out. bring it to a dealer and they do the rest. Or change the rest yourself, but you need special tools and other stuff. better leave it to a professional.

I change the fluid in my forks every winter when i strip my bike. you will be surprised how many people never change the fluid in their forks. if we had riding season all around, I would change it minimum twice a year.

anyway, good luck with purchase if you decide to buy it.

For $3500 is a pretty good deal for a pretty sweet ride.
