Most dangerous vehicle to bikers?

I have a particular disdain for cabs and transport/drump trucks. The latter spew all manner of crud on the road and leave gravel everywhere. The former are notorious for pulling blind uturns down town, or turning into a lane incredibly slowly/quickly while looking for their next fare, or erratic braking. Drives me nuts!

Lot of hate on the pick ups.
I drive one and have never even come close to an accident with a bike, I give bike lots of space when I'm in cage.
A lot of pickups are guilty of loose loads, distracted drivers, etc etc.But ya can't find any wrong with ones like this can ya?

Agreed. I had no idea light trucks scared so many bikers. I usually give lots of space when I see a biker.

For me the worst is Mini-Vans (in suburbia).. I swear to god anyone that has one, did not get it by choice, and that animosity comes out on the people with the MOST freedom (bikers). In the city: the worst is taxi cabs, they really just don't give a ****, so when I know I am going to the city I take my truck and scare the **** out of any cab that decides to drive like a bully.

Everyone is out to get me, or at least the voices tell me that, but I pay special attention to cabs, and anyone doing the speed limit dead on or lower.

Most dangerous to bikers - the motorcycle you're riding. Everyone can be a bad driver in any type of 'cage' (bad day/momentary distraction/malfunction of vehicle) - but you in any quality gear vs cage... you lose. Horrible drivers will always exist, we're taking that risk everytime we get on our bikes.

1997 Toyota Corolla especially the green ones

Minivans. Distracted drivers vehicle of choice. Gulping down food cell phone using kid swatting menace to society inside.

Most dangerous vehicle to bikers is ANY vehicle with a dumb person who has no concept for looking out for bikers on the road, dose not check mirrors or is just dumb behind the wheel. Its the person not the weapon (vehicle) deadly. Dumb people make vehicle's deadly.

Cab drivers that think bike riders are clairvoyant and can sense which direction they are going to move in while not using any indicators and/or randomly stopping in the middle of the road.

Also obscenely overpowered american sedans driven by timid old people who shouldn't really be out on the road.

Police cars a probably the most dangerous to motorcyclists because it's distracting to be on the lookout for them all the time. Speed of traffic is always higher than the limit, and when you are going around corners or over crests you have to watch for sudden stopping as people see the radar guns.

They are a bigger hazard than speeders.

Yeah, and why is it those cars come with big V-8 engines? They're never using more than two cylinders most of the time anyway.

It always used to be Beige Volvo station wagons back in the 80.s. I guess the kids moved on to mini vans now. I have had 2 mini vans change lanes into my car in the last few years.

Exactly what are you smoking? I wouldn't expect a minivan to be first off the line if it was the ONLY vehicle at a stop light.

I am. Most people on the road today, including bikes, are still daydreaming when it turns green.

If you were to look at all the motorcycle accidents, you'd find that the biker screwed up most of the time.
But in many bikers minds those don't count.

If you are riding in such a way that you are nervous about being pulled over then I beg to differ that in that scenario you have in fact made yourself your biggest danger.

I find people who drive Mercedes drive like they own the road. I had one pull into the right lane just as I was making a right into that lane, effectively cutting him off. The guy threw a fit, sped up, pulled in front of me and slammed the brakes on. He got out of his car and came over to my car to let me have it, I guess. I was very tempted to get out of my car with my tire iron in hand but I was being good that day.
