Rode in the dirt in my youth. Got an SS for a brief period and met a woman. 20 years later, looked for a toy. Wife green lit a bike. Wanted a newer Bonnie. Classic looks, modern reliability. Cost was a little out of my range. Sportster came up in my budget. Sound was great. Ride was great. Never looked back.

Took the Sporster on a few longer trips and decided to add the Buell for that task this season. Gives me freedom and something I can enjoy with the kids too. Only regret was thinking I didn't need a bike sooner.

All this talk about KTM got me to thinking.
Now this is what I call a real “off road” KTM. ;)

Seems fitting too as this is Daytona weekend
and the photo was taken at Daytona in1982.

YUUPP! im very familiar with KTM I can Handle it~! My dad has the 950 ADV super fast for a huge adv bike. I just love stuff that isn't made by the BIG 4, sick and tired of seeing the same **** everywhere I turn. Honda, Yamaha, suzuki, Kawasaki, oh wait another....... Honda:(
Tsk Tsk

I don't like to explain or describe why I do things. I ride bikes because It feels nice, it's a positive experience in this negative and ****** world. :)

I want my motorcycle to have better acceleration than 99% of vehicles on the road.

When I'm on my bike I feel like a super hero, no one can catch me unless I slow down and allow them to.

With great power comes great responsibility though...

There I go rambling I really do feel like a super hero sometimes motorcycles are really that cool

I like how on my bike I will see things and go places I wouldn't normally go. It's the only time I'm really by myself.

what do i want out of a motorcycle? Speed. And lots of it.

(while obeying all speed limits, ofcourse)

I like that too :) I thought my R6 was "fast". Saw this monster sized BMW (7 series?) driving down Mccowan near the 401. His license plate was OMGBOOST. I gave him a little rev and we ripped it. He made me look silly :) Must have some serious power!

I want my motorcycle to scare me. It doesn't have to do it every day, just once in a while. Driving on a road you don't know at over 200kph and getting air off a bump you didn't notice. Driving around blind corners on dirty roads just post winter at speeds you shouldn't be doing, two wheel sliding through the sand only to have her stick at the last second and carry you through unscathed. The raw power and how it pulls, and it just runs so damn good! Love the sound she makes when I spank her too.

^ Sounds like a commercial lol...
In all seriousness though, don't crash next time.

My bike is a toy and like anything else, I'm in it for the fun.
Whether I'm riding solo or have my girl on the back, there is something refreshing about being out in the open and enjoying the breeze.
I also enjoy scaring myself every now and then. :)

^ this!
Otherwise I am not scared of anything

For me it's a ZEN thing. It's just so wonderful to ride the machine, to hear the song of the engine and the wind noise. To ride winding roads, to find a comfortable line through the curves, To smell the country around you........and to forget the BS of the day. It's not the destination so much as the journey.

+1 to this.

I ride to forget the day, to watch my cares and worries melt away. Riding forces me to concentrate on the task of riding. Nothing else matters for the time I am on the seat. I love the challenge of banking into a corner, finding that perfect line and holding it. I love the feel of the throttle in my hand, the wind all around me and the shifters under my feet. Riding a motorcycle is not something can or wants to do. So I feel like a member of an elite few. It's a brotherhood, a band of brothers and sisters, a society all on it's own. People ride to feel alive, to not be a zombie or a sheep in todays world. We ride to express our individualaties, to step forth in the world and simply say "I choose to stand out". Everyone notices a motorcycle when it rides by.

Riding provides a challenge. Anyone can climb into a vehicle and push the gas pedal. It takes coordination, concentration, finesse and talent to operate a motorcycle. Riders must be aware of verying terrain. Smooth pavement, sandy pavement, wet pavement. Our brain literally makes millions of calculations to adjust for the change. Then there's the other drivers. You constantly read traffic around you. Looking for hints as to other drivers intentions. Being at the ready to make movements to the changing traffic flow. It's not a boring drive wherever your going, it's a challenge.

Plus getting a nice lean angle on a twisty road puts I smile on my face.
