Ducati 1098 or keep the 09 R6

thanks a lot guys. I want something bigger not a screamer like my R6. In the same time looks are very important. Don't worry I never stay in TIM parkings, I actually ride it :))

I guess I`ll take it for a ride..see how it feels and based on that I'll make my decision. Are they reliable ? I know Jab bikes are strong like a beast.. not sure about Ducati...

what are you trying to achieve by upgrading? Ducati is a race machine... It's also a much better chick magnet in front of timmies than r6.

lol!!!

take one for a ride for sure. the dry clutch is a lil different than a wet clutch and the sound annoys some but i love it. my ducati is pretty strong. the only major maint. is at 10,000km which is timing belt, other than that i just change oil and lube the chain and she rides great.

The 1098 is extremely reliable, give it a good look over and check these things in particular however.

1. Coolant leak around the top left hand side radiator mount as you sit on the bike. (You will have to look for dried coolant or run the bike for a while)
2. Check the gas tank for any warps or deformation.
3. Check the vertical cylinder base gasket for any dried oil giving you signs of a leak.

Uh, based on your 6000kms over 3 seasons with your R6, it would seem you do more parking than riding. Get the Duc. How it fits you won't matter if you're only doing that kind of mileage.

Keep the r6 and invest your $. Unless you got the cash don't bother getting a loan IMO. Damn I'm getting old

R1 is better and has cheaper maintenance costs. Italians are so finicky. Just my 2 cents.

Hi everyone,

I have this nice 2009 R6 Black and Gold pure amazing bike only 6000km on it MINT. So the dealer GP bikes have this 2007 Red Ducati 1098 14 500km.

They will give me 6800$ for the bike and I`ll just have to pay another 6700$ to get the Ducati

Basically thier 6800$ plus 13% would be what I would probably get from a private sale.

Should I keep the R6 or go for the Ducatii. I ride R6's for 6 years already want more power...Is this Ducati better faster than R1.. I never rode R1 or Ducatis 1098..

Ducati!!! all the way. Buy anything European can't go wrong. 848 Is just as nice!

I thought about a duc as well but after riding the 848 I don't think I could live with it....so I bought an R1.
I can only imagine what the 1098/1198 are like after riding a 848. The 848 feels like it has more gusto then my 9 to about 8g (mind you the one I rode was a evo with a full exhaust +ecu).
If you want the extreme..get the 1098.

Yeah and this is based on a wealth of personal experience with Ducatis and R1s I'm sure

Your 2 cents  yeah ok

guys I dont need a loan. Cash money. Obviously I dont like throwing money away. I'll go test ride it tmr that`s the best thing and based on the feelings looks etc ..I`ll make my decisions. Why only 6000k ? well I bought it last year with 2400km and I usually enjoy my superchaged GTX 255 jet ski so I did not really get to ride my bike a lot...

For me its not how much u ride them... how much u enjoy riding them. Enjoy comes with looks, feelings, power etc etc ...

I am not a hard core biker that rides all day to work, winter summer etc... No thats not me. I know there are ppl out there and If I would ride that much beleive me I won't be riniding on a SS bike.. a cruiser for sure..
