CAA (Plus) Membership for Motorcycles?

ive had CAA plus for years, have used it many times.

all it takes is one time, to pay itself off.

ive used with cars, and my bike. with Plus, you can even get $20 worth of gas brought to you if you need it
the money is worth it, especially if you have a flat tire in the winter. they will come right over and put on your spare for you.

cant think of a gift for the g/f or wife ? get them CAA.

I have heard from friends and a local dealer of bikes being written-off by tow trucks that where not equipped or cared about bikes. The tow truck simply used a winch cable to drag the bike up onto the truck's back (flatbed or not)! So I always hear it is good to have CAA and to specify that it is a motorcycle when calling for a tow truck via CAA so as to get proper towing.

My cars will always be decrepit pieces of junk, so I will always have CAA. But yeah, before Moto Limo became a partner, it was just a good idea. Afterwards, it's a no brainer!

The buddy whos name is on the card is in Toronto and who has the card, you need a tow and you are in North Bay, the driver in North Bay asks to see your card...a bit of a problem..

Just get your own membership, no hassles and no fraud.

ask for flatbed!!!

also they don't really care who drives or whose car if they have few bucks for coffee, so all of you and your friends could share

For those travelling to the U.S. I just read this at the CAA site: (so they do cover CDN.'s while in the U.S.)

NOTE:
Motorcycles with or without sidecar are covered under CAA Plus coverage. However, due to differences in service terms in the U.S., Members should expect to pay for service provided to motorcycles while travelling in the U.S. and may submit their original receipts to their Club for reimbursement.

Petro Canada points can be redeemed for CAA dollars. Pair you Petro Canada points with CAA membership and get 20% percent more Petro Canada points. I have used my petro points to pay for my premiere caa membership for the past 3 years. I already have 93.00 caa dollars saved towards next years membership.

If I had CAA for all the years Ive been driving and riding it would've cost $1000+ easily so I guess Im ahead of the curve!!

And as the poster above you pointed out, if you were filling up at Petro Canada, you'd have it for free for all those years.

It depends how much travelling you do. If you just drive locally in all those 10 years than yeah it's probably not beneficial to get CAA.

I've ran out of fuel once on a 10L tank lol somewhere just exiting the Rocky mountains heading towards Calgary on my way home to Toronto. Saw the gas station but you had to take an exit somewhere to get to it. Saw a boat pulled over to the side was thinking of siphoning some fuel but anyways luckily I had CAA and my gas came few hours later. I also had a flat tire from doing courier work on my maxi scooter. Guess someone didn't like me parking on the sidewalk boulevard lol. CAA has more than paid itself off for me.

Oh yeah don't know if Ontario's CAA has locksmith but my Alberta AMA (same as CAA just different name) has locksmith covered up to $100. I broke a piece of key that got stuck in the ignition so locksmith came to extract it and charged $150 for a 1 minute task lol.

All the above plus the TripTik. This handy spiral bound map fits perfect in my tank bag. I go to the local CAA store and tell them where I am going, which route and come back in a couple of weeks and pick it up. You can pick up the state/province maps that cover your trip and other books with attraction and accommodations.

Each page covers a couple of hours of driving, and the areas under construction are highlighted (although some are missed). It is great if you don't like to use as much modern technology or have access to it. I have a GPS but always like to look at the map as well.

Re: the AMA, I thought you had to have a US address to register for this. That seems like an awesome deal. Thanks

No US address needed they welcome Canadian memebers and they send the magazine here too no extra charge.

Thanks for the details Taximan62. I travel a lot in the US.

I've had CAA for past 10 years but for past 3 years I've topped out (4 tows / year) it's usage. I'm just hoping CAA doesn't call me to take their card back, especially for the need of a flatbed for both my bike and sports cars.
