Stopping the bike ASAP by laying bike down or use both brakes? Emergency Situation

Well, on the other hand... the bike probably won't "stop" faster, but the most energy will continue slide with the bike, while rider may safe few fit of sliding distance, which can safe his/her life. I think this is the point. As well as a part of energy will be transformed from kinetic to rotational while laying the bike down...

So, to answer the question would be NO and YES.
NO, bike won't stop faster
YES, the rider may stop faster, but that's extreme...

Well, the best thing to avoid such situations, guess... :toothy9:

Ride safe

Crashing, to avoid a crash, makes no ****ing sense to me.

Scrub as much speed as possible before impact, and as an added bonus, might not impact what you are trying to avoid! If you have to wonder for even a second if the plastics and or hard parts of your bike are more effective at stopping than brakes and tires, give your head a shake.

Seriously, try thinking before making new threads.

I will make sure to listen to the people that say I should crash my bike to stay away from injury when they tell me at the 1:30ish mark I should lock up the rear but they highlight the front brake lever?

Fastest way to get off a train ASAP.

Pull the emergency stop lever or jump out the door at a passing telephone pole?

There are no stupid questions but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots.

I would jump if the train was going to fall off a cliff. I'll take my chances.

Its the same case scenario if a truck is coming right at you and you have no time to swerve. I'd jump off the bike and let me bike get hit rather than me and my bike. Stopping wont do any good as you'll still get plowed through. Maybe i should've used a different title. Oh well.

If you have time to jump off a bike you have time to swerve.

This is why you fail.

if you would still get driven into then the truck is going to drive right over that bike and still run you over ... bikes aren't known for the stoping power they present to a larger vehicle.

"There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers" :agave:

Examples of stupid questions:

"What's the meaning of the word 'meaning'"?
"Is it safe to drink toxic waste?"
"Is this question stupid?"
"What comes before cantaloupe?"
"What will happen after the future?"
"Is it safer to crash than to crash?"
"Why don't people take my posts seriously?"

"There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers" :agave:

And stupid people.

Well, manage to crash just a bike to avoid crashing your head would make sense, I guess.

I'm no expert on crashing, simple logic or physics or anything fancy, but I am fairly certian that if you crash the bike you are likely going to crash your body as well.

The original question was more like "Is it faster to stop using the brakes (the bike's stopping system) or to slide along the ground?" Meaning if a rider crashed in front of a group of riders they'd all have to lay it down to avoid running into each other.

Maybe the question was poorly phrased. It's a symptom of a society that wasn't taught to think for itself. If you'd like to re-phrase the question feel free to.

It Is What It Is.

Glad we solved another braking dilemma.
