Down South way?

Would you relocate based on your desire to ride more?

Has anyone ever thought about moving down south (or anywhere warm), where you can ride year round without having to deal with the cold weather?

It actually crosses my mind now and then, I'm just not a huge fan of the States' political and social "mentality." Job I could probably get through my current employer. Somewhere in the Caribbean would be perfect but making money would be an issue.

I think about this often, can't stand the cold, I work from home, so home could be anywhere, just waiting for the right timing.

Could move to Fort Myers anytime.
Sister has an open offer.
To be honest would not think of it.
Flat as a pancake, no twistes, no snow.
Sunshines all the time, along with the T`storms and hurricannes.
Nope, Canada is my home.
Plus they talk funny.

I would move down south in a heart beat. But I heard it pretty hard to get a green card. To work there. Plus their economy. Is in the tolit right now. And it would be hard to give up a well paying job right now.
So I guess Ill freeze my *** off like everyone else. Lol

I would never leave Canada, its a beautiful country and i love the changing seasons, they all have their own beauty.
I wouldnt give up the winters here for anything.

i ride mostly dirt, so i did buy according to ease of trail access.

There is no poll for me as I WILL be moving - and that's WAY down south to tropical Australia within 3 years and spending 3 months each year in between - can't wait for second season this year.
While by no means the main reason to move it's a nice bit of benefit

Seriously thought about it. Even had the location picked out; a university town with a huge tech industry base. My skills are easily portable, and there's a "Free Trade Visa" class or twelve that covers me, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm Canadian, dammit.

I have thought about it and perhaps I'll do this when I retire, be a snowbird and own a house south of the border for winter time

The grass is always greener they say. Truth is, it's nice to have some portability. I have some snow bird friends that RV down south for the winter. No kids to take care of, or major financial obligations to work their butts off to support so, they can do it. They worked hard for it and deserve it.

The folks that live there have to deal with extremely hot seasons or weather depending on where you are.

Canada is a great home and motorcycling is a great way to discover other places. Winter does put a hamper on this sometimes but, it also makes me treasure the riding time I do get to enjoy.

I'm heading down to Florida in February. Disney for the kids, riding for me. Just a week or 10 days should be enough to get me over the winter time blues and look forward to a new riding season.

The poll is missing my response:
"Considered it but rejected as bad plan."
I spent the summer of 1996 (Olympics) in Atlanta, and travelled Georgia riding Triumphs.
But when I got there I couldn't eat anything for 3 days!
It's HOT mon, REAL hot, it's 100+ degrees in the shade.
But what's most strange for a Canadian:
It's still bakin' hot at ~2 o'clock in the morning!
My cousin keeps his air conditioning set to 80 F and I was suffering right there.
I threw open the window for a breath of fresh air in the middle of the night...
Wrong. Big mistake - may as well have been noon! It's hot 24/7.
It's 100 F from ~April to November, and the HUMIDITY... unreal.
No thanks!
Give me cool, crisp Canadian air any time.
It's perfectly gorgeous here from April to November, and the other 3-4 months are refreshing.
I like skiing and skating.
So suck it up Canadians, find something wintery to do - or read all three volumes of Lord of the Rings, or something...
Hey the grass always looks greener, y'know?
But the reality can definitely be an unpleasant shock.
And trust me, winters pass faster & faster the older you get...
