The differences between the GP machine and the street version were pretty much what I thought they'd be, but it's always cool to read about it from an experienced rider.

It reminds me of watching Darrel Waltrip take a spin in a V8 Supercar with an experienced driver. It's hilarious to see how even a veteran racer can be amazed at what a real tricked out ride can do.

I think read that you can buy a replica Honda Repsol race bike for like $1 million?

i meant the fact that going out and buying every part from the dealer to build the bike is going to cost 3 times as much as buying it new

Part of the reason that Rossi left Honda was because they wouldn't give him the bike he won the championship on. You can't buy one for any amount of money.

Canada is more expensive for everything exotic. Duc 1098's are 11k used down there.

Johnny is right.If you take the time to get real close to one of them,you'll see the build quality and craftsmanship is unreal.The wheels aren't "like" the wheels on a gp bike.They are the wheels!Same goes for most of the bike.And the sound with the full race exhaust (which comes with it) is unreal,

It's funny how they won't allow these precious bikes to be kept, instead sending them to the crusher without exception.
And they don't like to let the bikes out of their sight until that time...

If you consider the Chinese, no offense to anybody, they admit it themselves *shrugs*
They will reverse-engineer anything!
Get their hands on one and take it apart...
Start manufacturing it, guessing on materials, no joke.

they are not "add fuel and start" type items.

I wonder what insurance would be! I want to call just for the laugh!

I called a year ago, and was told it'd be 2200 / yr for full coverage provided I put an alarm on it and deductibles are at 1k

not too bad, only about 3 times higher then the 06 R6 I have on my policy now

Add 2 zeros etc etc, "Waste of Money" is a relative term.

When he had his own mtv show, they did a part in his garage and showed all his winning bikes from different championships. Had his motogp bike from the last race in valencia, said Honda gave it to him for winning the championship. You can watch the show on mtv.ca. Think its called the kentucky kid(not the motogp movie) He said he had it written in his contract that if he won, he got to keep the bike. Maybe honda just thought that would never happen so they agreed.

Anyone who is questioning the value of owning this machine either can't and probably will never be able to afford one (and that's ok) or just can't (or won't let themselves) appreciate one. Are you saying you've never looked at a Ferrari and lusted? Just for a minute? Happy with that 250 Ninja? It's all good. No shame in any of that. At eighty k, I couldn't bring myself to buy one either. But everytime I walked into Corsa and saw the one he had for sale, I was coming up with ways in my head I could justify buying it. And I could have for about 44 k. I know I'll regret not doing it. Maybe I should have. But to say it's stupid, not worth it or whatever is just missing the point on purpose. If you ride sportbikes then you want one. If not you're fooling no one but yourself. Of course you do. We all do. It's the coolest sportbike made for the last twenty or so years. Not the best but most definitely the coolest.

I'd be embarrassed getting passed in the corners by much more talented guys riding 250 cc bikes, haha.

Guy riding that bike doesn't give a flying $$$$ who passes him, neither should you : )
