Feet up on highway pegs on residential roads looks silly

Just an observation.. I know it's more comfortable for some guys on long highway rides on a cruiser to have your feet up on the front pegs to stretch out and relax a bit, but i just saw a guy riding down a residential street and his feet were way up on the front pegs with just the back of his heels making contact with the peg and his feet in a spread open position sticking outwards from the bike, he looked ridiculous, like a duck or a bird flapping it's wings lol. I supposed taller guys might find it more comfortable to ride like that but he wasn't tall looking so it wasn't a fit issue. He looked like he just thought it looked cool. But riding on a side street at 40kmph with your feet up like that looks really silly imo.

I just don't see how it's comfortable, my bike has cruiser styling but a standard riding position, and even though it feels a little cramped i have never used the front pegs even on long highway rides, it just feels awkward. What happens if you suddenly have to emergency brake and need both brakes, or have to put a foot down quick? That extra second or two that it takes to pull your relaxed legs back from up there could make a difference.

Normal position for some bikes - mine for sure and you just get used to it.
There ARE times I'd like more of a sport touring balanced position with some weight on the bars but hell - who cares - he's out there.

as to the shifting and braking on the big scooters......feet can stay forward - :D

I heartily endorse this event or product.

It's better than the Captain Morgan pose at Timmie's I guess.

Meh..whatever works..hate to be in a panic situation like that though..

As a former cruiser rider I can say that sometimes you feel like putting your feet up on the highway pegs, sometimes you don't and I for one never cared if anyone thought it looked funny or not. It doesn't look any more/less silly than when SS riders are in full racing tuck doing 50km/hr on the same street. To each their own. I'll say this about highway pegs; when I did 1200km in 14hrs across the Trans-Canada from Amhurst NS to Cornwall ON, I wished I had highway pegs on my Bandit! The last 300km or so I was getting wicked cramps in my hamstrings and knees! Looks be damned, I may even try to find a discrete pair and see if I can mount them on my Bandit for long hauls.

Ridiculous riding position. Laugh every time I see some cruiser riding down the highway with his boots splayed out into the wind. Do you realize what you look like?

The thing that really sprung to mind with the guy i saw yesterday was that he looked like a pregnant woman giving birth with her feet up in the stirrups lol. Laying way back, feet up higher than his body and pointed outwards. Man.. i'll just never get that. Or ape hangars either... speaking of looking silly and uncomfortable.

Just don't touch the front brake and lay'her down if you need to.

Question.... Why do you care?

I don't, like i said just an observation. If i was one of those guys who thought that it looked cool and didn't realzie how silly it looks i would wish a friend would tell me! So it's a public service announcement really.. and it looks like alot of others agree about that position.

I have ridden in suburban areas using the highway pegs on my dads Ultra Classic. It is comfortable, and partially a novelty to have them coming from my GS. I could care less what someone thinks I look like on my bike or any other bike. I have ridden more then a few miles on a Harley sporting my Enduro helmet and BMW branded jacket. I was not aware that there were silly police out there.

Would you really care if a friend told you something looks silly if you enjoyed it?

A guy I rode with had a set of pegs bolted onto the frame of his bandit.... for the life of me I can't remember the details but there are holes or a tab on the lower frame about where it turns up towards the steering head, he told me they were there for something to do with European specs but here in NA the spot was left empty. Used set of passenger pegs, couple of bolts and Bobs your uncle...

I believe his was a 2006 Bandit 1200.

Because their balls are sooooo big that they need to spread their legs out more to be comfy...

Jk, I love mine and don't care how it looks. On my trip east it added another leg position on those long days and I was very thankful!

It's called stunting..... you should see what some of the sport bikes do that don't make any sense!!!
