Looking at some Term Life Insurance. I don't quite like the way I have been treated by one insurance company so I have decided to have another company quote. Do the companies share information? Just asking as I received a bit of a weird call from the second company today.

Edit: I have only applied for insurance at this point.

I think if you've had medical underwriting done by one company, if you provide an authorization, a second company could access that info.

If you're asking if your medical's can be accessed, the answer is usually. Speak to a reputable broker, level with them, and they can point you in the right direction.

They typically do not share any application information between insurer companies but they all report back to the MIB - medical insurance bureau.
But it only gets that stage once you've applied and they've started the underwriting process.

Look for a paid up 10yr or paid up 20yr plan. Its term insurance. Pay for the premiums only over 10yrs or 20yrs, yet the coverage is in place for life. ie. your 35 - by 45 (or 55) you stop making the premium payments, yet you have a life insurance plan that will be with you for life.
Its slightly more than regular term insurance, but it doesnt come to an end after the 10yr or 20yr mark.

Nothing was omitted on the application, I don't need them coming back to me later. I shared info with an agent in person with one company and the other application was done online with another. The app I filled out online was followed up with a call from a rep collecting information. It was something in the way the question was asked that lead me to believe that what I shared in person with one company came up later with another and it wasn't part of their questioning at all.

It's hard to guide you without specifics. The MIB (Medical Information Bureau) may have data from the first application, whenever anything is done regarding the MIB, we are required to be forthright and explicit with you regarding it's use. You should have received some written disclosure.
