Where To Find Motorycles For Sale?

Anybody have any suggestion specifically online on where to find used motorcycles for sale? Obviously I have exhausted Kijiji, Auto Trader and Craigslist. Are there any other forums that have a more active for sale section the GTAM? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS I don't mind looking south of the boarder as well.

Kijiji is the best one. Search under Kijiji Ontario for a huge selection.

You listed all the big ones. There is no secret online used bike market that people don't know about. Keep your eyes open on check constantly for deals. Are you looking for a specific bike? If so, there are usually forums dedicated to certain bike models, may be worth hunting them down and see whats for sale there.

Expand your search beyond the GTA, you will have to do a bit of driving if you find something your in, but you have opened up your marketplace a fair bit.

Good luck with your hunt!

Place a wanted ad on each of those. I've bought a couple of bikes that way. Let them come to you.

Cheers,
spyug

Yea Kijiji has tons of bikes for sale, new ones every day. Just keep checking back. This is a good time to look too. Do you know what type of bike you are looking for?

Thanks for the responses. On Kijiji I search all of Ontario and have the distance set at 1000km. The "wanted to buy" maybe a good idea problem is i'm still not 100% as to what I want. I've owned everything but a Kawi in the SS class so i'm not biased but just incase anyone has any leads so far here is my want list.

  1. Price Max $6000.00
  2. 2003 Or Newer
  3. 20,000km or Less
  4. 1-2 Owners
  5. Displacement 600-1000
  6. No Touring or Cruisers
Thanks in advance to any leads and any suggestions or help provided.

You could get a 2009 or 10 SV 650 for that i bought my 2008 with 1100kms for $5500 this year.

So you've owned everything but a Kawi, you want a reasonable price, fairly new, low miles, no abuse, powerful! and you have limited your choice to SS... so it's a Kawi then right? You haven't left yourself much room to move. Finding a new source of used bikes isn't going to produce new bikes you
don't already know about, it's just going to show you more of the same.
Have you tried racing at the track? That's a whole different world of riding. Maybe vintage race or street bikes are worth a look? I understand why you say no cruisers, but there are some amazing sport tourers that you can do 1000 kms a day and you will not be too burnt out when you check in at the motel.

Well if you know what you want try the bike's specific forum fs section. do the ton and vrra for older bikes, sbn for bikes in the states...

if you're looking in the states as well, use searchtempest. I use 14205 for a zip which is just across the border in Niagara Falls.

Brand does not matter. As for running at the track yes about 15 years ago I did Fast School Level one and two and did a few track days. Track no longer interests me as I really can't afford it between time and money of other hobbies I have. As for Sport Touring models I have not written them off but I just don't get the same feeling of enjoyment out of them. Maybe I just haven't been on the right one yet?

I would love get into a vintage cafe racer styled bike but that would be more of a luxury or occasional ride. Right now i'm really looking for my staple bike that I can ride everyday if need be or hit the twisties with my friends.

Thanks for the reply.

Keep your eyes peeled for a used Triumph Thruxton. Great for short blasts or all day rides.

Well, the only thing my bike (2003 FZ1) is missing off your list is in the Kilometre department. Below 5 or 6,000rpm, the FZ1 is a tame, smooth, fast bike. Above 6,000 up to the 11,000rpm redline it reverts back into a slightly heavy R1. :D
Some sport tourers are more sport than tourers. It all depends on how you ride.

Que the shameless plug. My FZ1 is for sale on the board. I haven't gotten around to posting it on kiiji yet.

I'm glad you asked this question. I was wondering the same thing. All I know is the bikes I've looked at are seldom as good as described and my truck costs me a minimum of $20 an hour for fuel. Just something to think about before you go 1000 km to look at a bike. Kijiji is disappointing. It seems everybody uses whatever price the others are using. One guy asks twice what a bike is worth and pretty soon they're all asking that price. Good deals do crop up, but two that I have emailed about wanted me to send them money via paypal without seeing the bike, scam! Be careful. Good luck with your search.

Kijiji is great.
The reason why you might think it sucks is that it seems the same bikes are on there forever. That's because all the smokin' deals are gone within hours.
I just picked up an absolutely mint 2000 KX 250 2 stroker for $1600. The bike came with bush bars, a Pro Circuit pipe, extra chain and sprockets, spare decals, a gasket kit and new piston and ring kit.
The seller took some photos of the bike, His wife posted the add at 10:00am, I saw it before 11:00, called him and told him I'd meet him at his home when he got home from work with the cash.
The seller had guys offering to PayPal the money (turns out he didn't have PayPal) without even seeing the bike in person.

By 5:30pm the bike was in the back of my truck, and by the time I got back home, the add was gone from Kijiji.

If you logged on after dinner, you'd never know the bike was even on there. You'd be stuck with mostly the guys who are trying to sell their filthy, rusted, dented and flogged '98 and '99's trying to get $3000+ for them.

If you know what make/model you're looking for, you can narrow your search for that, and not have to wade through crap you're not even interested in.

Bottom line, you snooze, you lose. You need to stay on top of Kijiji so motivated guys like me don't beat you to the punch.
