do ducati SS riders get more attention than other SS riders?

actually, a friend of mine who is a girl who knows nothing about bikes told me one day she saw a nice ducati. i think she came to know the brand from various recent movies that have ducati product placements.

but of course someone can put a ducati sticker on his ninja 250 and she would think it's a nice ducati. lol

i've always felt Ducati is the "Ferrari" of SS bikes. Not taking anything away from a very beautiful performance bike, but I just feel like thats what newbs and non-riders always say they would want to own some day.

A ducati is like the ferrari in the car world. You can't compare the bikes. Comparing a 1198 to any Japanese liter bike is like comparing a GTR and a 438. Sure The Japanese can beat the Italian, but you can't beat the detail, build quality and exclusivity of the Italian.

Or sound :)

I'd love to own a ducati ss. I wouldn't want to ride it on the track though which is exactly where it belongs so to ride around uncomfortable and never get to actually use the technology is a waste in my eyes....for now.

i like ducatis and was close to getting a 796 or 848 but reliability worried me. i plan to go on long trips and honda should be good for that. not to mention the honda looks nice too.

I always turn do a double take when I see a Ducati but I suspect that's probably because of the bright red paint.

The high-pitched wail of a Japanese SS nearing redline to me is much more attention grabbing.

They "used to" get more attention. Now Duc's are a dime a dozen now. Due to their mass production of cheaper and cheaper bikes, they have lost a lot of their 'exclusivity'.

Go get yourself an old Italian SS like a Laverda Jota - I get mobbed everywhere I go!

and repair costs

You will see them a lot more now than you did when the 916,996,998 was the bike to have.
Which makes them less exclusive.

People always seem to come over to check out my ducati whenever I'm out on it. It definitely draws more attention than my R1.

Well it's no surprise an Italian bike costs more to maintain. Same for expensive cars. Read online awhile back, oil change on the Nissan gt-r cost the owner $350. Regular car it's like $30

But this thread is just about attention. Lol
