Car vs Bike, yes again. Shot at TMP.

The brake fade on the GSXR is probably due to having rubber brake lines.

As for Bond's riding ability, I'm really surprised at some of you and your comments, I would say the bikes were very well represented with him at the helm, and as I understand Ken is no slouch either.

Agree with the brake thing.

Well, few of us actually know who they were. I know Rick Bye..he used to race in the Porsche 944 Cup I believe back in the day. I know Jim Kenzie used to race Mini's and other stuff at Mosport back in the dinosaur years. But I'd never heard of the bike guys. I suspected all of them, riders and drivers, were fairly competent in their respective disciplines. I also believe exactly what Steve wrote..I'm sure those car buys have been around that track a few times before and it's easier to go faster in cars. But ultimately, because of downforce, the car will win these races. Yes, they're more money..and then the comparison breaks down as Griffin said earlier..how do you compare? Dollar for dollar? Outright lap time? It's very difficult and nearly pointless to nail down the comparison.

I personally know every person in this video. Have known and raced against Steve and Ken for 20 plus years. Both can ride motorcycles very well and are more than qualified to beat down Kenzie. But in true Kenzie fashion lets twist the results into what he wants to see. My favourite part was him ranting "the numbers dont lie" I would for one like to know what those numbers were. Well?
Hey Bondo nice to see your still riding on the track once in a while :) Any time you want to visit the dark side give me a call I always have a bike for you to ride and know some people at SOAR. Bring Team Bogus with you :)

Thanks to everyone for reading the article. As I said, next time I'll bring a CBR1000 with Honda's sportbike ABS. It'd be even better if we could do it at Mosport or Shannonville - two tracks I'm a lot more familiar with and could get up to speed a little quicker.

thanks for taking the time to post a reply, Mr. Bond.
looking forward to you taking on Kenzie with you on a truly "state of the art" bike. ;)

"But here we were, with two of the finest examples of motorcycle technology you can (apparently) get.
The Suzuki GSX-R 750, and the Ducati Diavel."

Ahahah this made my day!

Rick Bye has been doing Porsches for a very long time. All of the drivers and riders in this segment are plenty capable.

why is everyone laughing at the "GSXR state of the art" comment?

i dont get it...which bike trumps the GSXR so bad that using it calls for deragotary comments?

is it the latest generation? is the GSXR not well represented in track and racing? i could see if they pulled out the SV650 or the ninja 250 and said comments such as those...but both the GSXR 750 and the diavel are the latest generation.

.

state of the art

noun the latest and most sophisticated or advanced stage of a technology, art, or science.

C'mon now.....the rubber brake hosed, abs absent, traction control lacking Gixxer is considered "state of the art"?

really? REALLY?

Just do a google for reviews on all 600 sports. You'll notice that the GSXR generally is the one disliked the most on the track. Honda, and Yamaha seem to be the ones that are loved the most.
