First time I've ever kicked a car in

Glad you are ok.

Why is there always a few a%%ho@#& on a motorcycle forum who try to flip things around to make the rider who is the victim here into the bad guy. I'm glad you showed restraint and depite his age not beat the crap out of him.

If he came that close, he could have ran you over and not even realize what he did. Cant believe someone would bring up filtering in this situaion. You are not going to filter past a car and run over the drivers foot.

I think its to do with the little bit of exaggeration. Car ran over my foot for 3-4 seconds. Well, actually just my little toe. Well, actually just pinched my toe with my boot.

Definitely, people should not be running over other people's boots, but there are some things that can be done to help protect oneself.

When I first read the story, I was wondering how someone could boot a car with a foot that it was parked on, how a car could park on someone's foot without them noticing, why the bike wasn't hit at all, why the car had room to move forward past the bike, but the bike didn't, and why someone would let their mind wander while driving, especially on a bike in the GTA?

I've had a bike split me and then dally at a red light, so that I would have hit him to get by, followed by giving me the finger as he ran the yellow light. Since, it's happened to me maybe its happened to others, so that could be why filtering was brought up.

Not if there end up being any broken bones. Your hands and feet have the most joints in the body. Whatever the case is, any broken joint will never heal 100%, no matter how much metal/plastic/surgery you get done. You were just lucky that none of the joints broke.

Just don't want people to get the wrong idea and go "MY FOOT IS INVINCIBLE" lol

I've had a car go over my foot before and no damage done...
Didn't break a bone, didn't lose a nail and I don't remember it hurting all that much.

You need to report the driver to the police and file a crash report. This driver should not be driving on the road and is a menace to you and all of us. If you kicked his door and he did not even hear it, then this is a sign of obliviousness. Sometimes doctors and family are reluctant to pull driver's licenses from the elderly. Unfortunately something bad needs to happen to justify their action.

Did you get the plate number?

I agree with this. So he runs over your foot today, maybe he kills a rider tomorrow?

The system is not enough to keep bad drivers off the road. At the very least his insurance premiums should go up. Maybe he won't be such an idiot driver.

I would have freaked out too. These cagers in the GTA are outrageous. Just be carefull glad to hear you're ok though.

Dude, WTF? Why don't you just say I made the whole ****ing thing up. I wrote it not long after if happened and still on a bit of an adrenaline rush but thought I made it pretty clear.

I said I was lucky my shoes were loose so my foot was able to slide over slightly. If they had been tighter he would have ran over more of my foot. He still ran over the side of my foot and my toe. Clear enough?

What exactly would one do to protect oneself from having some dip **** run their foot over while stopped?

I kicked the car right after the guy got off my foot and did not stop. I was punching his window with my right hand while he was ON my foot. And I did notice he was on my foot hence the honking and punching, not sure what you're going on about.

I'm always very aware of what's going on around me, which is why i've never been in any such situation before. Looking to my right for a second or two while stopped in traffic in 1 lane with curbs on both sides means I was day dreaming? don't think so. And again in case it isn't clear for you, I was not filtering, I was basically in the middle of this single lane.

Anyways, thanks guys for the positive feedback.

Just saying...

Get a pair of full gauntlets with hardened knuckles, maybe a broken window will get the idiot to pay attention.

wow, glad you are ok.

my friend ran over my foot a few years back. I got out of his car from the back driver side door, the second i shut the door he started to move backwards. with the rear tire on my food i calmly told him that he's on my foot but with the loud music playing he didn't hear me. he knew he was on something because he drives a manual car and it just slowed down as it was going over my foot so instead of stopping, he gave it more gas to ran over my food complete.
he only relized it when he saw me hopping around the gas station on one foot, i was ok, pretty good memory thou.

Yeah, that instinct to just give it more gas and a little less clutch can be pretty quick and powerful when your used to a standard. I've gone a block or so before I realized the parking brake was still on, car just seemed a bit sluggish.

Glad your ok though. Could you post up a google maps link with the spot where it happened?

How big of you to let this "80" year old man go, after you yelled at him, of course. Thankfully, you weren't hurt (due in fact, by your own account, to your somewhat loose shoes).

Not quite sure why it makes a difference that he was driving "a nice car", either.

This probably won't mean anything to you, but with that response you've just placed yourself at the head of my "do not place on Ignore - ever" list.
