My VFR turned into this...........

I'd have thought a VFR would be worth more. My 944 was only $2500. Then again, it needs some work. Although it's never left me stranded. Off the road right now cuz the power steering rack is pissing everywhere.

I get most of my parts from 944online.com , pelicanparts.com , and rennbay.com .
Clarks Garage is also a good companion for anyone that owns these.

Actually other way around for a 99vfr and 85 928s, but I got a great deal on the 928.

Have you priced a GTS? Not picking one of those up cheap!

Actually I have. Seen a few 93 GTS come and go over the years. There was one at an Orangville dealer not too long ago IRC.
But you're right not cheap. If I were to get into a 928 I'd go for an older one also to save some $$$. But I would have to swap out the old lump of an engine for something cheaper to maintain and more power.

You picked up a nice little porsche but does it have the hauling capacity of this one?

I actually considered replacing the rear window with some kind of removable cloth cover so I could pull it out to put bigger stuff in the hatch, lol.

Same thing with the sunroof so I could just roll it up and stuff it somewhere when not in use. I hate having to carry that thing around in the trunk when I take it off. Especially when the car is packed with camping gear.

I wouldn't call it a lump. It's still capable if 0-60 in 6 seconds, 288 hp, and a top speed of 150mph. Not bad for a 25 year old car. And putting a gm motor in a Porsche (as another poster suggested) is almost as bad as putting a v8 in an rx-7.

The only achilles heal is the frequent timing belt changes, my first is under way now.

One of the more popular options among Jaguar owners used to be a small-block Chevy conversion. With it, the car would always start in the morning or in the wet, and maintenance costs went WAY down. ;-) http://www.jaguarspecialties.com/v8_kit.asp
