Here's whatI've experienced so far. When I go fill-up at a new (not my regular)gas station, the pump displays, "Please see cashier" orsomething along those lines. Another time the gas station cashierkept refusing to turn the pump on, until I walked inside. I asked himwhat his problem was, and being that he couldn't speak English thatwell, didn't help the situation!

Is this happening to otherbikers, or do they just hate me? LOL[/FONT]

That's funny OP because When I go fill-up at a new (not my regular) gas station, the pump displays, "Please see cashier" or something along those lines. Another time the gas station cashier keep refusing to turn the pump on, until I walked inside. I asked him what his problem why, and being that he con't speak English that well, didn't help the situation!
 
I always pay at the pump, never had a problem before.
 
Recently I was at my usual gas station and the attendant told me (over the intercomm) to get off the bike when filling it. I found it odd as I have never been told that before....and i was already halfway done.

Now I just makesure I keep my helmet on so if they do that again I'll just pretend I don't hear them.
 
Never once had this issue.

I would however like to express my hate for whiny youtube videos, it seems like the internet has devolved into a giant complaint department. /sadface
 
Are you trying to pump gas while you're still sitting on your bike? They don't like that. Personally I have never had a problem, if they're a little slow in turning the pump on I just make eye contact with them and they're satisfied with that.

I was surprised to see that most American gas stations are pre-pay only though.
 
Never had this issue, I fill up all over the place, don't really have a regular place. Weird.

Pre-pay is moving North because many gas stations here now have pre-pay only pumps.

Because of the high prices gas theft is now becoming commonplace...

When it costs $50 to fill a car and $100 to fill up a truck people just steal it.

Talk to a gas station attendant sometime, you'll find out it happens like several times a day at almost every station.

I'm with mikbusa on this one.

and I always pay at the pump. Had my card ripped off too many times that if I can't pay at the pump, I go to another gas station. (unless I have some cash handy :D )

Until they have a sign saying it's forbidden, along with smoking, putting a cap under the lever, and using your cell I'll continue filling up while sitting on the bike.

It's easier in soooo many different ways, and with the bike fully upright I can fill it up to the very very top.

I don't because I don't feel safe doing it. My bike is very high so I can't get off it super easy. In an emergency I'm afraid I may not be able to get off fast enough. If filled up sitting on it when I had my shadow.
 
Just buy your fuel somewhere else. I've done that in the past and would do it again with no hesitation. But if it's the only Station for miles around, then I guess you have no choice.
 
Not going to spend 5 1/2 minutes listening to that rant and it was hard to tell whether you were prepaying are just inserting some kind of air miles card?

Took a trip down to the states and every station there requires you prepay before they turn on the pump. It was a major PITA since I could not use my credit card at the pump. Every time you try to use your credit card it request that you enter your zip code (no letters on the pad, so can't prepay with credit card at the pump). USA isn't chip enabled so card number theft is still rampant down there. I ended up getting my number stolen while I was down there and my card was canceled.

I was mentioning to the Wife that station up here will be following the prepay only scheme sometime. I'm sure it will be phased in over that next couple years.

I do, every time. I always pay at the pump and never bother to go see the cashier. I used to fill up while sitting on the bike and only once did the attendant tell me to get off the bike. I found it a tad annoying while getting the card out, putting it back, taking the nozzle, putting it back etc...
 
I love prepay pumps because they are usually vacant even at times when there are a million people trying to fuel up.

I dont see the big issue. Insert card, pull it out, maybe decline a car wash, grab the pump, fill up and leave.

I'm also hearing of increasing incidents of license plates being stolen and then used when stealing gas. Only time will tell if this is a trend or a few isolated cases.
